Just got to thinking about this due to the off-topic time waster thread. So what nick names does your family have for you and why? Any cute nicknames you use for members of your family?

My name is Maureen - so my family calls me 'Maur' or 'Maursy' (I loathe 'Mo") however - mostly now they just call me by my full name.

mine was Marly.. ugh, I hated it... everybody called me that fromthe time I was a baby but when I got older I didn't let anybody call me that only my grandma was allowed to... :P

when one of my younger younger brothers started to talk he couldn't pronounce my name so it came out sounding like Mounya.. it was so cute.. he was still calling me that when my other younger younger brother started talking so he called me that too

the one brother still calls me that....

My family calls me Douchebag.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

My name is Gillian. My Mom's nickname for me is Menace or Miss G. (Yes, she still calls me that. LOL) Some friends and family call me Gilly. All my cousins call me Cousin, and so do all their friends. LOL. Even funnier.... all my cousins' kids call me Auntie Cousin! Everyone else calls me Gillian. Except my brother-in-law..... he calls me his evil twin. People who don't know me call me Jill. I suspect that's because they can't pronounce Gillian. <_<

Now, my husband.... he's another story. He calls me:

  • Krikit ;) (due to me saying "cricket" instead of "critic" just ONE TIME a few years ago.)
  • One-sock-on-One-sock-off (due to a foot injury I had a couple of years ago when I had one foot covered and one not)
  • Miss Beasley (because he says I look at him and don't say a word.... just speak with my eyes; or he says I look at people or things or areas and don't miss a thing).
I'm pretty sure my name is Gillian, though. It says so on my birth certificate. But there isn't a middle name on there. My parents didn't love me enough. <_< But the lack of a middle name actually ended up giving me another nickname. LOL. Whenever people would ask me what my middle name was, I'd have to tell them that I didn't have one and they wouldn't believe me. So finally I started telling them it was Lillian. Now everybody who knows that story calls me Gillian Lillian, including my husband.

My name is Heather and my family will just call me 'H'. Same thing with my sister, her name is Tricia and we just call her 'T'.

I like middle names, it's fun to use them when someone is in trouble....my son's name is Austin and I will call him Austin Tyler when he does something 'wrong'. I will even use my Dad's middle name with him when I think he's being a butt.

Could be. I asked my Mom and she said it was because she had 3 names and she was called something different wherever she was. So, let's say her name was ABCD. At school she was called B. At home she was called C. At dr's offices and legal formalities she was called A. At work she was called D. (She was an RN and they went by the last name.) Anyway, apparently she found that really annoying and chose to give us all names that couldn't be changed. Boy was she misguided.

That reminds me of my friend, F. Her real name is Mary. When she was growing up, her brothers used to call her fatty, which eventually got shortened to F. I had been calling her F for years before I finally asked her "Why does everybody call you F?" So she told me. What a hoot.
