oh my gosh.. you are so not getting it

I never said it was ok.. my point is that is silly for the Republicans to say, "how dare they bring the children into this" when they would turn around and do the same...

and just to be clear I have never stated what side I am on.. I am really trying to be in the middle...

I just would like to see these discussions be more fair...

Based on what? Show me where the reps have gone after a candidates minor children. Your assuming things based on a stereotype. How is that fair?

The massive amount of posts with the vitriol and hatred aimed at Palin tells me that they are in a panic. If she were so ho-hum and so inconsequential then why are there so many topics with so many posts? Why all the personal attacks? This is all so telling. The left is running scared.

Scared is right.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

The irony in this statement - given the posted threads over the last few months is simply staggering.

Really priceless.

Move along people - nothing to see here. Yet again....

I will ask you the same thing. Where are the posts from reps attacking a candidates minor children?

The snottiness is so childish.

I can't even stand to come into these threads anymore.

You either eh? The hypocrisy and short-sightedness is just shocking isn't it.

We have months worth of threads about Obama, Clinton and McCain - in Obama's case ranging from his middle name, to his choice of attire, to what he does or doesn't do during the national anthem. In short - more than enough baseless garbage.

What people just don't seem to get is that these things are reciprocal - if you don't like the tactics that are on display they simply shouldn't be used in the first place.

But at this point (though I knew this a long time ago really) that will be a red letter day before we see the end of the ridiculous partisan bickering.

So if she was the presidential candidate rather than McCain, and she was running against a democrat with many years of political experience and accomplishments behind him or her, who would you vote for? Would it depend on the issues, or would your vote remain the same since you are obviously a devout republican?

I think the problem is with your reading. There, I bolded my question, does that make it any easier? Where did I say against Obama?

Well offhand there was that Ann Coulter comment about John Edwards having a bumper sticker saying "ask me about my dead son". There was a thread about that when Edwards wife chewed out Coulter for it on national TV. You were all over that - fist-pumping for Coulter.

You look for equivalence in these things as though it makes one side look better - it doesn't. Whether its the children or no - the personal lives of political candidates should always be off-limits. But no - we have to suffer silliness about people's middle names, about their whether they are in fact the religion they say they are, even about their military service (that was a new low during the last election) and even McCain has had people in his party slagging off his war record (something that's supposed to be regarded as honorable and decent).

I mean... what is it you hope to achieve with this?

This isn't about Palin running against a well qualified dem. This is about a dem candidate without experience running against a well qualified rep. You can try and make it about Palin running against a qualified dem if you want but that isn't the case. Try and stay in reality here.

Seriously Gary. You start this thread. You must surely know the reactions are going to be varied. Then you are all worked up and throwing a temper tantrum. Chill

maybe it is because there hasn't been anything to talk about...

Palin had to know she would get some sort of backlash when she released this information...

yeah it is not right but I guess this is how politics works...

Again, shamelessly stolen from Fark:

2 year governor of the largest state in the union (with the smallest population)?

Check.

2 year governor of state with closest proximity of any state to Russia?

Check.

More abuse of power scandals?

Check.

Saying she's against ear marks out of one side of her mouth while pushing for money for the famous bridge to nowhere out of the other?

Check.

Quote of her just a few short weeks ago saying that she has no clue what it is that a Vice President does?

Check.

Saying she's a major family values player and not being a good enough mother to keep her high school daughter from getting knocked up?

Check.

Hmmmm.... You're right. She does look a lot more like an experienced politician than Obama!

No Gary, I'm not "running scared" from Palin. I'm pointing out what a terrible candidate she is and how horribly qualified she'd be if she were to become President. And I'm relishing the fact that it's coming out so quickly and hurting McSame.

Really Gary, is this the best you have? Neener neener? Gawd, I was curious as to a serious opinion, and that is the response. I don't think McCain would ever want you involved in his campaign, you would be a detriment to his cause.
