Tania had her interview this morning, and her visa was approved!!!!

She had her medical exam on Monday at MOM. She had wanted to go to AO Meditsina, but they would never answer the phone. As it turned out, she was very happy with her experience at MOM, and she was able to pick up the results Monday afternoon.

This morning, she had to wait about 2 hours before she was called up to the window for her interview. Once she got to the window, the whole thing took less than 5 minutes. She was only asked three questions. How did we meet? Did I come to see her in Russia? Did I pay for her plane ticket to Moscow? :) They took the financial support documents, but she was never asked for any of the proof of relationship documentation or original documents. In the end, she was told that she should have the visa within a week! :)

She did mention that there were six other women there for K-1 visa interviews. Of the four who interviewed before her, three were told that they must provide additional documentation before a decision could be made. While she couldn't hear everything, at least one young woman didn't have any proof of a relationship, and apparently her fiance is not employed. Apparently, the CO stated that she didn't believe there was a valid relationship. So, they certainly weren't rubber stamping K-1 visa approvals today. But, for Tania, it was very easy, and there were no problems! :)

Si, man! :)

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Thanks everyone! We are both very excited!! Tania is still trying to determine how long it will take to get everything done that she needs to get done before she leaves. Once she knows the earliest date that she'll be ready, then I can get some flight reservations made. That's the next challenge for us. Flights from Tomsk are getting difficult to book on short notice and more and more expensive in general. But, if things work out, she should be here in about two weeks, give or take. :)

On a side note, I had been thinking that we could track the pick-up and shipment of her visa by DHL tracking, but DHL told her that they don't enter tracking info for visa shipments. I'm not sure that I understand why, but I guess that's why I've never read about anyone doing this.

Thanks! I appreciate that!

She should be already on a flight back to Tomsk, so picking it up at the DHL office in Moscow isn't an option. I understand about the tracking number and the fact that DHL will certainly track it. But, Tania was told (by a woman at the DHL office) that the tracking information won't be available online for us to see.....something about visa shipments being a special case. We'll see. I have the tracking number and will give it a try anyway.

Thanks for the info. I have the tracking number. Were you able to see when it was picked up from the embassy? That's the only date that I'm really interested in.

As I recall, no, it didnt show that, but its been a few months, and the process was so quick that I really dont remember. Figure 2 days to process and two days to receive. That was what it was for us, and she lived in Sochi. Yours will probably be the same.
