Miles and More credit card (mastercard)

I just saw there is a Miles and More credit card for US.

Seems to be a good choice for getting some miles while paying the bills. Does anyone have it and is the $59 per year in service fee or whatever they call it worth it?

If the interest rate is less than 8%, maybe it's worth it. Make sure that they have fraud protection. If not, then, don't get it.

Recently most of the airlines increased the number of miles required to redeem for upgrades or free flights. Not by a little, but some tripled the required miles need. So if you plan to put every penny you spend on this card, I guess you can do it.

I rather get a free bonus like a $200+ gift card from citibank on my credit card, than a free upgrade and the annual fee.

Some miles expire too

Well, here's the thing - with United Mileage Plus to travel to Europe you need 100,000 miles http://www.united.com/page/article/0,,59,00.html

but with Star Alliance you need only 60,000 https://www.lufthansa.com/cdautils/mediapoo...edia_563508.pdf (or through http://www.lufthansa.com/online/portal/lh/...amp;cid=1000390 then click on Star Alliance flight award chart).

Supposedly with this card the miles do not expire (unless you return merchandise) so you can use them towards free flights.

I have a Chase credit card with earning miles for Continental. Every dollar you spend or any mile you fly you get a point. Last year my trip to Israel was only $300 instead of $1000. I used all of my points and saved $700. I had this card for a while and I only pay $45 a year. So once you pay these fee you forget about it and it's not that much but when you have to pay $1000 instead of $300 then you feel the difference. If I would fly somewhere domestically I am pretty sure my flight would be absolutely FREE but since Israel is far and international I had to pay the difference since I did not have enough miles to buy my tickets with.

If you know you'll pay your balance off at the end of the month they just shop with your credit card and earn your free miles, I think it's worth it!

Ooops.. I did not know.. have 25,000 from United Chase, now useless.

It takes a lot of money and time to accumulate what now United wants to fly to Europe: 100,000

Well, no more USA Airlines for me then.

Happy with Flying Blue AirFrance - KLM. They have lot of partners to accumulate miles, and still 50,000 roundtrip to Europe.

As far as cards go, it takes too long, too much to spend, not sure it's worth it anymore.

Also Continental has partners so even if you fly with their partners you get those points as well. You don't have to be stucked only with Continental, just search online and you'll see many of their flying partners.

I prefer to get my rewards in cash rather than paying a fee, so I use my Discover card for everything... (but I pay off my cc bills every month). It's 1% cash back on just about everything, plus they run specials on items (with a simple couple click, no ads sent to you sign up) with 5% cash back -- they've done it on gas, hotels, plane fares, groceries, you name it). And their fraud protection is excellent. You can use your reward and double it on lots of major airlines, too...
