Who exactly has suggested it should 'remain the same'? All climatologists know that climate ebbs and flows. Not one has ever suggested that the climate is static or that it should become so.

The point above was the most poignant for us every day, non scientific folk. Humans should take care of the things that they are in control of regarding our environment in order to keep the planet habitable for generations to come. Not, "let's #### in our back yard because we don't care about those who come after us."
