Hey everyone,

My fiancè called IRS today in order to obtain copies of his most recent tax returns. For my K1 interview in Italy, I know I will only need to show the most recent. I am not sure though, when filing for AOS, if you only will need the last one or the last 3 for the I-864 document. I am pretty sure I read the last one in the istructions, but again, I prefer to make sure. Thank you!

When I did AOS for Honey ko's AOS, I sent in last 3 years. It was pretty easy to do that, since I had just made request from IRS for Tax Transcripts using their phone in system. It didn't cost anything and they arrived in the mail a week or so later. Its just a couple of pages of paper, versus sending copies of my tax return, which could be a whole stack of paper.

As I recall, the AOS required 3 years tax returns.

Ok, thank you. I read the instructions throughly and it says to only submit the last one or up to the last 3 ... here it is "You must provide either an IRS transcript or a photocopyfrom your own records of your Federal individual income taxreturn for the most recent tax year. If you believe additionalreturns may help you to establish your ability to maintainsufficient income, you may submit transcripts or photocopiesof your Federal individual income tax returns for the threemost recent years."

They do, though, need the last 3 years of gross income. My problem is the following: my fiance filed in 2005, 2006, 2007 but apparently the IRS cannot provide him a copy of 2006 return. Has anyone had the same situation?

I only included the 2007 tax return in my AOS. One portion of the form asks for the 3 years income, because I can't find my husbands 2005 ITR, I used the SS file as the basis of his income that year.

On AOS, I just wrote in my last three years of income but only included 2007 tax return, which was the printed summary of my e-file from TurboTax. That's it and it was fine. I think I included 3 most recent pay stubs as well.
