You are totally not alone.. My sleep schedule is so wacked out that I don't know what to do .. The hunger, thirst, etc I can get past but it's the feeling awake when I should be sleeping and feeling sleepy when I should be awake (at work) that are killing me

Not really morning anymore on the east coast

near noon here soo GOOD AFTERNOON MENA

this is my 2nd day of fasting...i started tuesday, as did my husband

i dont know the technicalities of when it starts but for me 2nd day

when you are forbidden to eat, you are starving

when you can eat, you seem to never get hunger pains so great, even if you dont eat all the day

I DUNNO

just the normal rountine round these parts

1/2 thru another week

i hope it is a good one for all

The new moon was sighted in Morocco for Tuesday, so they began fasting then. We fasted with Morocco last year, but this year we're fasting with the U.S. in case my husband wants to share in any Eid celebrations here.

I hear you on the hunger. I'm not usually this hungry by noon. But it will pass. I always feel so great for the couple of weeks in the middle, and then the last week is long again. As for the sleep, my husband comes in from work at 4:30 am. I made harira in the crock pot yesterday and went to bed early (tried to -- cats kept doing gymnastics on my face), then got up with him, we ate and drank off and on until 5:45, then I slept until 8:00. Now I want to sleep at my desk.

Happy Wednesday, everybody.

I feel you guys on messed up sleep schedules. I didn't go to sleep until after 2am last night. Then I got up at 4:20am to prepare Sahoor. Then I layed back down around 5:30am though I could fall back asleep until about 6am. Then I was up again at 8:30am to go to work. All in all, I have had about 4 1/2 hours sleep, but it is broken in half. Then my dad conveniently scheduled his flight to arrive just after Iftar so I will have to break my fast while driving to the airport :( He couldn't be bothered to ask me what is a good day or time for him to arrive. Oh well, I think I am a little grouchy today as I'm feeling hungrier than usual for this time. Hopefully the hunger pangs will pass this afternoon since the only Iftar I will get is what I can eat while driving, lol.

You really do sound like me too.... I use to wonder how my mother in law did it in Tunisia... The woman was never getting a solid 4 or more hours of sleep, but 1 or 2 hours here and there through the day (and I'm not just talking about Ramadan, I'm talking all the time) I kept thinking she must be so exhausted from that and how much it would mess me up not to get at least 6 straight hours... Not just my MIL actually his whole family never slept more than 4 hours at a time... Especially in the summer when the weather is so hot that it makes life impossible during the day - They would nap off and on in the day and stay up all night long and it messed with my body so much.. I'm feeling it again....I suppose by the time I start to feel okay and normal with this schedule, Ramadan will be over

I'm right there with you. I went home last night with full intentions to shower, eat, and go straight to bed. By the time I was done showering and eating...I was not tired AT ALL and ended up staying up till 2:30AM. Then I got up at about 5 till 6 for Fajr and set the alarm for 6:50AM and went to sleep again. I woke to the alarm going off and it was 20 after 7...I was supposed to leave at 7 so I was BOOKING it to work today. I did manage to make it RIGHT ON TIME alhamdulillah!

I am gonna try to force myself to sleep around 9(ish) tonight and maybe get up at 4 or 5AM for food, smokes, and relaxing..... that is..IF I can get to sleep.....

i was wondering about this myself. now my in laws are jewish therefore no ramadan but my MIL is tunisian and she goes to bed every night at like 1am and wakes up at 5 or 6am. i dont know how she does it. and then she cleans and takes care of kids all day.

Posted (edited)

my husband stays up all night anyway over there, this is just normal for them there

you think ramadan keeps people up all night? why? because they are staying up storing food for all night for the next day ? LOL

yeah I am pretty much hungry all the day, when in my normal routine, i never feel hunger like this, even if i dont eat all day long till night

sleep comes to me anytime anywhere and i was fast asleep by 11 pm

but but but ...technically i feel if i sleep earlier i am not only fasting the normal fasting hours but all those hours i sleep too, so maybe I should either A. stay up super late and eat more before sleep (which is not good for metabolism) or B.

wake up before sunrise and eat....

what? me, wake up before it's time to..just to eat?? nooooooo way, not me

so i guess i'll just be more hungry...and what energy would i have for exercise??

and more hungry after working out! omggggggggggg

i am with you people

hang in there

something so nice happened to me yesterday, on the FIRST DAY of my fasting...so I pray my big prayer would be answered really soon :innocent:
