I saw a bit and it just doesn't seem to have the same energy the DNC had..

Ditto. That was like "Night of the Living Dead". They've got problems and they know it.

They're Republicans. The real action is off camera. In the toilet stalls in the mens room, for example.

The audio seems odd. People cheer and applause on cue....to a fault, but then there's dead silence. After watching the DNC, I remember hearing cheers or people still clapping. I don't know, but something isn't right. The camera cuts seem on right on cue - a close up of someone holding up a sign and cheering, but then within a couple of seconds, dead silence. Hmmmm...

I watched the DNC like a hawk. The amount of eye rolls was not even funny. People were clapping like fools at anything and everything rhetorical. Almost like a theatrical production.

What did it for me was seeing and hearing a loser like Spike Lee. Who apparently only now is proud of America. That is, because Obama is running.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Its called an uneasy feeling about being in such a tight spot with the electorate. Albeit the polls say various things about enough likely voters and/or registered voters. I tell you... if they win this one... then they deserve the population that voted for them. Or was it the other way around??

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Of course there wasn't as much energy...first of all the Reps are already in office...the Dems are excited to possibly take back the White house. They have more to be excited about. They also have a nominee who causes people to react like they are watching a rock star. I agree he does get people interested and fall in love with his message. I don't dislike him as a person so don't try to label me just b/c I said he's treated like a rock star. He is just doing his job. I've said many times that if he wins I won't freak out and be bitter the whole time.

But when it comes down to trust, experience, service, and hutspa....I will vote for McCain and so will many others. People will try to make him look like a fool or a senile man, I don't care. As if Obama is infallible. If I could actually see an Obama supporter on VJ say something positive about McCain besides that he was a good military servant, that'd be refreshing. And some of the ppl that are so anti-McCain now said "McCain is not a bad choice" less than a year ago.

I'll go first with positivity about Obama.

He has some ideas I like and would support.

He is a charismatic speaker.

He definitely gets people excited.

He is not a bitter ranter like others in the Dem party.

Now will anyone supporting Obama do the same about McCain or will it just be the usual insults? Obama claims he'll reach across the aisle. Will any of his supporters? :P

I actually really liked McCain in 2000. And was really pissed that media just sank him in favor or totally dumb and fake Bush.

McCain back then seemed energetic and genuine.

Struggling now.. He seems to know his way around in Washington.. hm...

His wife looks like death with makeup and multiple facials, but he does not seem to touch her much or pay attention to her, which is good for a candidate I think (we vote for a candidate, not his or her spouse)

He can still walk ok, and does not fall asleep during his speech.

Seems to be responding to questions and alert, most of the time.

Trigger happy and old anger issues, can easily start a war, would not even need a WMD fake reasoning or propaganda campaign, will save money on that.

Most likely will spend much less money on international travel, just do not see him being very well accepted internationally or him having desire for such nonsense as diplomacy.

Enough for 1 day, I'm exhausted.

fedup...was that supposed to be positive?

Sorry, I tried.. 2000 was long time ago, but honestly, I liked him back then.

Just do not seem to recall exact reasons, maybe it's just that in comparison to Bush he looked REALLY INTELLIGENT and GENUINE.

But now, he is much older, it's not my fault, sorry.

And harder to compare him to Obama. I can relate to Obama because he actually thinks every time, before answering any question. Which I do not see in any other candidate, past or present. Most just give you slogans or prepared answers.

People who do not think before doing or saying something are scary, if they do hold a position of any power.

Does anyone else notice how most of the political threads around here are against McCain and Palin? Do you notice the people who used to post anti Obama or Hillary articles all the time gave up? :P Now there is a major imbalance in the type of political threads posted. If anyone thinks it's because there is nothing bad to say about Obama, they are wrong.

but a few months ago we were inundated with posts against Obama... I think it kind of evens out...

what I would really like to see is positive threads about each candidate.. instead of all the the threads against them...

Well give issues that can be discussed. Right now its all about McCain's lack of political judgement and Palin's very limited experience as well as very narrow-minded political views that are far from an umbrella of the entire nation.

Of course... those are not what I consider to be issues like economy, foreign policy, taking care of domestic issues... but its pretty clear the Republicans are not really interested in advocating for that kind of discussion given light of the reality of the last 2 presidential terms.

We've had the 'Obama is not perfect' discussion as well from thread to thread. There is some degree of selective memory going on there in some cases.

Oh there weren't many complaints about those.

I think we need quality rather than quantity.

Besides its not so black and white. There's been plenty of criticism of Obama. There's also been a lot of silly backbiting about irrelevancies.
