LOL! My husband is persian. Not Arab. And it isn't that he does not dress well. He dresses fine. But he did not bring his blue suit from Iran. Only casual clothes.

And let's be honest, Americans are highly sensitive to even the slightest body odors. And body odor isn't limited to other cultures. There are some stinkers who are born and raised in good ol' USA!

who told you That we arab men dont wear deotorant and dress well??!!

I think I can relate with this post.. Well this post does not say Arab men dont wear deodorant.. actually they do, I have met some arab before that clean and really smells good.. but majority in the lower class really smell like onions.. Repetition of clothes especially the top is not really advisable, especially if someone sweat already.. Jeans is okay, no matter you wear it 3 times.. It is really important to put deodorant with antiperspirant to protect you from getting body odor.. Unfortunately some people that has Body Armpit odor does not smell it.. unless you tell them.. Why? because they are immune already with the smell... I had pull my co worker one time to tell him that he stinks.. I told him in a nice way and he did appreciate what I said.. He told me he doesnt know about it.... Some arab people also tend to eat spicy foods, more onions and garlic and this affect also your body as well..

Personal hygiene is very important men or women need to do the same thing..

I think it depends where you are from. I havent met too many smelly Algerians. They tend to shower alot and do the hamams that take out all their impurities once a week plus they were a french colony so they kind of act european. My husband is neater and cleaner than most Americans I know. Hes very very very clean and showers all the time. I wish he would act as clean as he is physically

Like you are so well known that people would point on the streets at you (if your husband posted something on a anonymous(sp?) website).

I don't tell me friends or my family - and here really, the other women can relate.

OMG! I would be so embarrassed if my husband posted about any of my habits that he found distasteful on a forum.

My point is not that someone might recognize me on the streets. For me, the thought of my husband commenting or complaining about my hygiene or personal habits to people on a forum is devastating. Whether I found out what he said or not is not what would even matter. Just the thought of my husband saying such things about me is upsetting.

Well, since you are not my husband, you need not concern yourself about it.

I apologize, I was only sharing my thoughts.

I apologize also. However, this is really an anonymous forum. The stresses of being responsible for EVERYTHING related to your spouse adjusting and not being able to speak to people close to you (in real life) can be overwhelming. The MENA crowd understand in some ways. We fight and disagree. But we all share a common experience and try to help each other also.

Too, too true. Furthermore, there might be something that you're experiencing that someone else went through, so it's a great way to learn how someone else dealt with an issue. We all need to vent about the issues that we experience. Moreover, being married to a foreigner is different than being married to another USC; where we might have a perspective about that person's attributes and upbringings. In the world of immigration, we're all getting our bearings - and some of us have been married and living with that person for a few years.

The ladies and few men that hang in this forum normally are very tolerant, respectful, and genuinely happy with their fiances/spouses, but on occasion, one might have a problem that goes beyond what they can deal with - so, they pose their questions or issues here. We all need to release our frustrations - and what better way than to a bunch of people whom you know and trust in cyberspace, rather than unleash the wrath upon your spouse where you might say something really wrong and hurtful.

My advice is if you don't want to read about issues with spouses, then you might just want to stick to the boards that deal specifically with your immigration issue.

Best of luck on your visa journey - hope you have an easy go of it!

Ok I think my point has been missed but that's ok. I totally agree that sharing experiences is a great way to learn and help others out but for me in the case of someone having body odor, I wouldn't think that would be something that needed colaboration to fix- I think a shower and some deodorant would do the trick. I am sorry that I disagree with sharing certain things on forums but that won't keep me from reading and sharing my opinion. I am not upset about others having opinions that differ from my own so I assume that we are all allowed to give our opinions about things. I would never stop reading something just because I don't agree- everyone is different.

My husband said the reason he wears things over and over is that he did it when he was younger - it wasn't unusual for people there to wear a pair of jeans for a month. It makes sense - large families, and not the same convenient laundry facilities as we have here. Also, not as many items of clothing per person as we have here.

He does shower often (more than I do!), not that I mind when he doesn't. I love the way he smells (it's never overpowering anyway). He didn't take care of his teeth before we met, but I taught him during my first trip to see him. Now he and his family members all take care of their teeth. He said they just didn't know, and it's different there.

He's just the best!
