guys,

I entered with K1 Visa. My I-94 expired 2 months ago, but I just got my EAD Card. Can I still apply for Social Security Number? If so, can anyone tell me how?

Thanks

You can apply for your SSN now. Take your EAD and your identification to the local Social Security Office and fill out an application form. You have to go in person. Once they check your immigration information you should receive your SSN in about 2 weeks. Bring your marriage certificate if you have changed your last name. This website will give you the information you need and you should be able to print off a blank form that you can fill out as well:

At least 6.2% of your wages for the rest of your life, and another 6.2% of your wages paid by your employer. It's a pretty bad deal. You can avoid this by working for cash "off the books".

Petition your federal representatives to abolish social security.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.
