Before just going and applying to work...i wanted to ask the experts here:)

Can my wife work at the Commissary or Px/Navy Exchange on a military base without her EAD? I've heard that since she is my dependent, she can work on-base, but on-base only...even without EAD.

is this true?

also....sneaking in one more off-topic question:)

Is there some sort of regulation that my wife has to stay in the US with her 2yr green card? Can she leave the US and go back home for as long as she wants for those 2 yrs?

THANKS IN ADVANCE EVERYONE!

if being a dependant of a USC automatically extends employment authorization then what is the need for interim EAD? I suppose it is possible the military has different set of rules. Do you have a legal office to inquire about this?

a significant stay out of country will precipitate the potential need for a re-entry permit. Some believe that it is a stay of 1 year... others say problems can begin as early as 6 mos. be careful with this situation.

I'm Military. As far as I know there is no special rules for Military. I do believe she still needs EAD for work. If she stay out of the country for a long time, they can deny her entry. You file for an AP and she can visit outside the U.S. but if she stays out too long they may ask questions. If you get stationed overseas, as long as you have Military orders, with her listed as a dependant, she can saty overseas as long as your orders say.
