Well, at least it would make others laugh, rather than have their panties twisted over it. Learn to take a friggen joke.

Do you think the "jokes" about Chelsea Clinton made by Rush Limbaugh were funny? We are talking about a teenaged girl here, not a politician.

I will say though that what really gets me about this situation is that 5 months ago, Lynn Spears - Jamie and Britney's mother, was vilified by Fox News and all other conservative media outlets for letting her 16-year-old daughter get pregnant. Where's the vilification now? Just because she's a conservative/VP candidate does it mean she gets a free pass on this.

Yes, I agree. Personally, I don't see it as an issue, but I really do feel that if it had been the daughter of someone on the Democratic ticket, it would be a whole different reaction.

Oh that would just be quite the confirmation of all Democrats' left wing, liberal, paparazzi-loving inclinations, wouldn't it??

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

People also made Olsen Twin jokes as well. Funny is funny.

Who says humor has to be tasteful? I sure as hell don't.

The difference is that this girl, like Chelsea Clinton, has not chosen to be in the spotlight.

If this was being done by anyone to any candidate's child, regardless of their political affiliation it would not be okay .

Yes, he said it, but to me it sounded half hearted. I think not because he wants this to be the type of campaign that he is associated with, I think his rationale was he should say something but not make too much of it because it would go away on its own. Clearly, there are some 'frothing at the mouth' types who can't see the wood for the trees and they are making this into one huge dung heap. He needs to squash it, and fast.

Maybe it was because he's sick and tired of people being completely retarded when it comes to what are real issues and what 'issues' play up to the Republicans campaign to win regardless of the issues.

didn't Obama already say that the families should be kept out of this...??

Oh, Marilyn, it's called deniability. Standard practice.

When Kerry was swiftboated,GW lamented and tuttutted it..

Obama's doing the same thing. oh, no please don't do this bla, blah blah...

But if you look at the attacks, they are well orchestrated. The MSM, blogs, launched a full-frontal assault...

it's not just one blogsite that launched the attacks.

Compare the last three days' coverage on Palin news with John Edwards' affair. Nat. Enquirer and Blogs started the news in December '08. Wasn't covered by MSM till July. They claim they were observing media decorum.

The orchestrated nature of these anti-Palin attacks places a very high index of suspicion on the Obama campaign.

'Prove it'

I am not sure that you meant to say that, well not the way it came over :) .

Anyway, I think there is a point at which Barack Obama has to stand firm and actually make a difference in the way politics is seen to be done, not mouth off ad infinitum about how he wishes it were different.

I am fed up with the way politics is seen to be done, but I am merely an interested observer, he is a presidential candidate.

Right... which is why I condition the phrase- not make it an actual claim. (the 'Maybe' gives it away)

Yes, he does need to stand firm. On real issues. Just as most of us here are agreeing that this is a silly, petty, cheap issue to delve into, I am sure he is pretty sick and tired of all the pettiness as well. But what he is supposed to do to control people that may not even be 'his to control' is beyond me. You say what you say.

Perhaps state quite strongly that this is a family affair, and that attacking the McCain campaign with it is playing right into ignoring the damage done to our economy over the last two presidential terms.

As for Republicans playing this game, it is no dark secret they are masters at the game of deviation away from actual issues affecting the public. Anything that deviates voters' attention away from the massive negative opinion they've earned over the last two terms is beneficial to their election effort. And rightly so- if voters are crazy enough to buy into it then we really do deserve the Republicans winning in November.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

ding, ding, ding... we have a winner here! The moral-right police would have steamrolled over this "non-issue" explaining how they have the better values, blah, blah, blah.

Yeah I don't like it either. Yet there it is on the news, for all to see and *ignore* the rest of what ails us.

Well exactly - and this time we don't have the Republicans to blame.

Of course- it just plays into their game, though. ;)

Reality as of September 2, 2008 paints a picture quite different from all the hoopla being wanked about in that supposed 'liberal media' out there.

You mean, by attending campaign events like this:

http://d.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/nm/2008090...HZz_r3oZtaGNw--

Nonsense. By campaigning with her mom she puts herself in the spotlight. Sorry, your invasion-of-privacy or spare-the-innocent-child nonsense doesn't fly.

The poster is funny as hell. :)

My opinions are shaped based on what I read yesterday with my own eyes on websites that tout being "progressive." I noticed the mainstream cable networks, with their wall-to-wall Gustav coverage barely touched the story until late yesterday evening.
