I believe your congress person will need the receipt numbers in order to submit an inquiry on your behalf.

I checked this link but it was not updated with my correct congressperson. We changed in June of 2008. I'm not sure about Texas, but you may want to double check. The address listed was correct, but the old congressman's name was listed. Best of luck!

what part of texas do you live in? Yes, your congressman do need all the information about your case pending at USCIS. They will also make you sign form so they can inquire about your case. Make sure you tell your congressman about specific things you want them to inquire, otherwise they will only inquire about processing time.

Yu will also need a "privacy release form. Copy and paste, change names accordingly and include it with the letter. :)

http://bachus.house.gov/HoR/AL06/Helping+Y...e+Form+Page.htm

I am mailing a letter tomorrow. I'm not out of the current processing times, but I dont really care. The timelines are going backwards(which I kindly mentioned in my letter),so what difference does it make anyway right? <_< By the time the letter reaches my congressman the processing time at VSC may be Aug 29th 1989. lol

I also included my reciept numbers and which service center we are at.

Good Luck!

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Yeah the processing times are a killer. We've been waiting for a very long time it seems but still remain within the processing times.

Good luck to you

Example Letter

When contacting our office, it is important that you have a written request for aid. Below is a template you may use to ensure you include all information relevent to our work on your behalf.

In addition, please complete the Privacy Act Waiver Form and include it with your letter.

Dear Senator Ted Stevens,

(In your first paragraph, state your general concern, then take a few sentences to explain pertinent background information.)

(In your second paragraph, explain what actions you have taken to resolve your concerns, and any further difficulties that arose.)

(In your concluding paragraph, clearly state any specific actions you are requesting. If you enclose copies of any documents, explain what they are. Share any necessary identification information that may be of assistance and provide your contact information.)

Provide your signature.

Maybe this might help alittle too :star:

a congressperson is like ur representative in the government for ur district...

Thanks.

I already sent an email to my congress person, Michael McCaul. His website didn't have a format of the letter we should write, or a privacy waiver form.

I suppose now we should write him another letter including the privacy waiver form and post this. Hopefully that will help.

CarolWygland, a congress person is a member of the US house of representatives. Every area has one to represent it. People have contacted their representatives to ask USCIS about their cases, sometimes it helps if the situation deserves it.

If you've been waiting for a long time, you should look up yours from that link above.
