The Embassy took all of my fiance's original birth certificate/IDs. Will he need these to get an i-94? What is an i-94?

An I-94 is a form nonimmigrants fill out (normally given on the flight). As a K-1 visa holder he will get one, fill it out and when he goes through immigration they will stamp it for 90 days.

I-94 is a document that let you travel to the US temporarily. most of the times as a Tourist it can be up to 6 months.

For what I can see in your signature, your husband won't need a I-94.

Good luck in your process.

...... I-94 is a document that let you travel to the US temporarily.......

No it is not.... A visa is a document that let's you travel to the USA and present yourself at the border requesting permission to enter.... The I-94 is the document you receive at the time you enter that you place in your passport which determines how long you can stay legally. All non-immigrants (including "K" visa holders will receive an I-94 at entry (You fill out this form in advance on the aircraft).
