work stamp -entering us immigration

My fiancee entered the states through LAX last week. She asked for the temporary work permit stamp and the officer shook his head "yes" and continued checking her documents and entering information into the system. she said he "typed for a long time."

I am concerned because I dont think she actually got the temporary work stamp.

My questions:

1) is the temporary work stamp an actual stamp, or do they enter this data into the system?

2) in this situation where she asked the officer and he said "yes," can we go to the immigration office in our city and ask for a stamp - or can this only be done at the airport?

Thanks for all your help so far.

Thank you in advance.

-Peter

I've never heard of anyone getting it at LAX although I could be wrong.

Most POE's don't give you the stamp now because it's really only valid for the length of your I-94 and most employers will require an EAD from the DHS. If you don't mind a lapse in employment I guess it might be worth it.

If you don't see it in her passport then she didn't get it.

no, you can't just go get it
