I might get kicked for this.... And I need to go and find the back up reading/research to what I am saying, BUT

I have read before that you can fast while you are on your period, but you can not pray or touch quran.... Again let me go and find that information.. But I read it because of a similar problem last year and it said that if you have an abnormal cycle or something that goes more than a normal 6-7 days you can fast and that even in some instances there is a procedure for prayer during that time (?) It had to do with ghusl (spelling? ) and binding yourself, etc... But the same place I read that, Egyptian scholar was saying that fasting is part of Islam and that praying is part of Islam and that it is not required in all cases for you to pray to have your fast accepted.. I hope someone else knows what I am talking about and that I don't get kicked for this.. But I went through something very similar last year and talked with some people about and researched it... But I'm at work now and my research is at home.. So if someone doesn't chime in with more information before I get there, I will PM it to you!!!

Ok, I've had the "visitor" for 3 weeks now but don't see an end in sight. What do I do about Ramadan? I have a feeling that I'm gonna have to make up the whole month and I reeeeeeeeeally don't wanna have to do that. Any way around this? I'm thinking about calling my gyn and inquiring about b/c pills again...

I had read that somewhere but haven't been able to find it to re-read it again so I know if my fasting will be accepted or not. Thanks for the rapid respons...I just can't stand the thought of having to make it up later....

I think this was answered a little already but I wanted to throw in the knowledge I've gathered:

Right now I am not fasting because I am on my period. It really is a mercy from Allah (swt). Think about the cramps, and the moodiness, and the bloating etc. Add fasting into that! Allah (swt) knows it would not be a fun ride for us so Allah (swt) said we don't fast on these days. Allah (swt) also said woman do not have to preform the 5 daily prayers on their period too. you do not have to make up the missed prayers, but you do have to make up the missed days of Ramadan. I don't think you get "extra credit" for fasting during your period. I agree that this really is a mercy from Allah (swt).

Thanks Kelly!! Yes, he's long and lean like his daddy! He was 28 3/4 inches long and weight 17 lbs 6 oz on Friday. The doctor said he was in the 97% for height. He has big feet too, wears a size 3! I noticed Zaid's onesie, we have the same sets. He's a looker with those big blue eyes!

I understand the feeling of REALLY not wanting to make up all the days you miss from Ramadan. Especially if it's been 3 weeks so far. But please sister think of this: Ramadan is not a punishment. Ramadan is beautiful. We're not just fasting because "God said so." We are fasting to create self control within ourselves. We are fasting to remember all of those who fast involuntarily every day. We need to remember that they don't get to break the fast at the end of the day like we do. They are not as fortunate. It is also a time to reflect on yourself. What have you been doing in your life that is good and bad?

If you do have to make up a lot of days, spread them out over the year. Don't do them all at the same time. Maybe that would ease your mind. But please, be happy that it is Ramadan! Do not fear the days you might have to make up. Inshaallah you will be fine.

Nawal, sorry to hear your hubby got stung -- ouch! I can imagine the pain (I was stung in the hand once).

Kelly, I am in the same boat as you regarding the hair thing --- I love it long, but it drives me crazy (what to do with my front long bangs, ugh frizzy! it takes forever to do it nice!) I'm considering getting a new "funky" hair style -- we'll see, lol. I like the "Locks of Love" idea... maybe you could look up pictures for the kind of hairstyle you like and could manage and tell the stylist?

Irregular bleeding, should I not take a dispensation on this issue?

Whether you take the 10 or 15 day rule, after that, you make ghusul, and start to fast and pray again.

Tasha, yea, zaid is prety tall too, he is in a size 2 shoe...he sees the doc on friday but my best guess is hes about 26.5 inches and about 18lbs...we shall see how close i am...

Happy Ramadan but I am confused, in Morocco Ramadan started today how is the 2nd day?

I am going to try to fast only but I honestly dont see any good in not drinking water, i am allowing myself that

if we are here in the states, what time does fasting start and finish???

any help on that?

Good Morning everyone!!! Well went to my job interview already, just gotta wait for him to call and tell me when his mom is gonna be able to train me. Its totally different from what i'm used to. sooo lazy to get ready for work...Im considering chopping off my hair this week..its literally almost down to my derrier and i cant stand blowdrying it EVERY single day...its 35 mins out of my day..and by noon, its a mess and in a ponytail...

Kelly, I didn't have super long hair - but it was past my shoulders...well, I was getting what I like to call "hair lazy" and I couldn't take it anymore. I got a short cut and I haven't looked back since. It reminds me of what Katie Holmes has right now...I love it. I wash it at night when I shower and it dries by the time I wake up. In the AM, I just use some styling product and go. It rocks!

I know what you mean about short hair...I'd love to do it BUT I do NOT have the face for it. I wouldn't look like Katie Holmes ... more like Roseanne Barr.... :lmao: I do love my hair longer its face friendly for me! I'm in love w/ "Claire's" hair on Heroes!!! OMG...so amazing..wish I had the money for those extentions. LOL

We are actually in Arizona. Hazem lived in Egypt his entire life and never once saw a scorpion...LOL. He comes to live here and he is here three months. He's lived thru Monsoon weather, DEATH heat and scorpion bites. I'm thinking the US is not his favorite place this morning.

You will be next w/ tons of baby pics! Can't wait for that! We have a scorpion issue at our new home...It was UNDER OUR BED! WTH He was eating pistacios minding his own business (i laughed a little feel free) then he dropped a shell...reached down to pick it up and WAMMMM ... the thing grabbed on to him and he was stung three times before he could shake it off. The screaming woke me up...."Scorpion" I can't even begin to tell you what my reaction was...LOL. I think if there was video, we'd be laughing I'm sure. But I'm still worried about the babies.

I'm at work and it sucks! Today I did the exact thing that I wanted to avoid.. Slept too late and didn't have time to eat.. Jumped up, washed, made up prayer thirty minutes late and ran out the door like a crazy person. Yesterday would have been a much better day to do that considering I didn't have to work so I'm in for a super long hard day. I came in, got everything done like super man (woman) and this way I can stare off into space like a looney for the rest of the day.

Yeah he's in big time pain. Who knew it can take up to one week 4 the pain to go away! Gross. It was a baby scorpion and they don't know when 2 stop stinging you! So he was stung 3 times on his thumb.

I'm off 2 try and sleep before work in about 3 hours. Yikes. Ramadan snd working early do not go together!

Ash if you read this don't tell anyone in Egypt about the scorpions. Lol. A particular big mouth will scare Momma!
