Hello everyone,

I was reading a post and learned that the beneficiary has to provide a copy of his/her police report for every place they have lived since the age of 16. If the beneficiary has lived in more than one country, does anyone know if you have to physically be present to obtain a police report? My fiance is convinced he will have to travel back to his home country, India, to get a police report so that he can interview in the country he is currently residing in.

Yes, that is true. The beneficiary has to provide a police report from every country they've lived in since they were 16 years old, if they lived there for more than 1 year. I don't know about being there in person though to pick it up, or order it. Perhaps you could look on the government website to see how you can order a police report from India. Where is your fiance living now? Perhaps they can have fingerprints taken where they are living, and they can be sent to India to obtain their police report.

You might try reading some threads in this forum, or posting India related questions there. There is often police certificate related questions asked in regional forums.

He is currently in Russia on a student visa but originally from India. He's been in Russia for the last 4 years. I would assume he couldn't provide an old police report he obtained from India that he used to process his student visa??? I think it has to be a recent one.
