DCF Process in Ottawa, Canada??????

Hi all:

I found this forum very helpful, and wanted to put our experience in--primarily because there appear to be so few Canadians doing the DCF route. It is really hard to determine what pattern, if any, is being followed.

I'm American, my wife is Canadian. We have both lived all our lives in Canada.

We dropped our I-130 application off at the embassy in Ottawa in late June--it was meticulously complete. We paid our money (times 3 because we also have two children). I proceeded to the US for my new job, and my wife heard nothing, then received a "packet 3" in early August, about 5-6 weeks later. She filled out all the forms provided, and mailed them back two days later, and now we are just sitting waiting for the next step, which I am guessing will be an interview appointment.

My "auto-calculation" of timelines from this site suggests that this might happen between November 3 and December 18th, but I have no idea how this is calclulated, since there seem to be so few people in our cirsumstance (DCF in Canada).

Does anyone have any idea how these numbers are generated? Does anyone have any experience as to how accurate they are?

Frank

There have been a few DCFs from Canada on VJ. You might want to drop by the Canada Regional forum where you are more likely to encounter someone who has already been through this process.

The timeline numbers from VJ are based on the actual experiences VJ members have had. The more people involved the more accurate the timelines will be. DCF is considered the fastest track to the US. Good luck with your application. Your next step should be the interview in the US Consulate in Montreal.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
