I recently discovered the B2 visa (I don't know how I never saw it before)

I'm curious if anybody has used it and if it's worth filing while waiting for my K1 to finish up.

I can't travel to see my fiance just because of my education, she's finished school though and is bored of just waiting to come to the U.S.

so any information you may have on the B-2 (particularly how long it takes to go through) would be very helpfull.

thanks everyone.

Virtually impossible while a K1 is pending. Save your money.

eYep, believe it or not, you're not the first couple that's tried to find a way around waiting.

Personally, we probably ran through every possible scenario, and were almost ready to just cross the Mexican border (Ok, not really).

Best thing you can do is start getting everything together that you'll need once the petition is approved.

Second best thing you can do is talk to each other everyday...maybe even invest in webcams.

Keeping logs of your communications can only help your case. Communicating can only help each other.

stay strong, good luck.

If you have already filed an I-129f petition the B2 will be nearly impossible to get. You can try, of course. Best bet is to proceed as quickly as possible with your K-1. Do that by downloading the P3 from the embassy and get all the documents ready. Our petition was approved in 61 days. I waited about 3 weeks for it to be received by the embassy and called the same day to schedule the interview. We were offered an interview date of June 23 but could not make that date because of our own schedule conflicts. Had we gone to that interview, we would have had our visa in hand in just over 3 months. As it turned out the next interview date was August 7. Still, it was 4-1/2 months from filing the petition to visa in hand. Not so bad. Just get all your dsocuments ready and you can speed the thing along better than anyone else can.

Good luck, it is a difficult time, I know.

Kiev is stingy on issuing B2's..... They have done it, but it must be an overwhelmingly compelling case that the visa applicant can and will return to Ukraine. As a fiance(e) of a USC, the odds are stacked against her.

If you want to try it is $131 risk. Simply go to the Kiev Embassy website and follow the instructions.... All the information you need is contained there....

I think we'll just wait it out. It was something to get my hopes up temporarily y'know? lol

Gary and Alla congrats on the 4 1/2 months. We're at 4 months and still haven't gotten our NOA2, hence the eagerness to see each other again.

and as for the good reason for her to go back... well she has to for our k-1 to go through her embassy... though I suppose some people would just not bother anymore.

I'm expecting our NOA2 within the next couple days (fingers crossed) so wish us luck and good luck to everyone else thats waiting!
