abt divorce papers for filing k1

Does anyone know, if ur loved one has to submit divorce papers in the filing for K1, does the divorce paper (and/or translation) have to be signed by the "Foreign Affairs Dept"? This is for filing thru Morocco. Any help would be most appreciated! Choukran buzzef!

Jan 15, 2007 - recieved SSN

Feb 6, 2007 - checks cashed for AOS/EAD/AP - YAY!

Feb 8, 2007 - NOA1 on AOS/EAD/AP

Feb 14, 07 - touched EAD/AP

March 8, 07 - Biometrics appt in NOLA

April 17, 07 - AP approved

April 19, 07 - EAD approved

Yes the american fiance or fiancee is divorced he or she must submit divorce decree even you if you are divorced.

The DFA dont have to sign the divorce papers!

we are both divorced, i am specifically asking about the fiance' who is immigrating (beneficiary). He is about to send me his paperwork for filing K1 and wanted to make sure that everything is properly documented. So, please correct me if I'm wrong - we need a translated copy of *his* divorce papers in addition to my divorce papers... no DFA signatures needed?

Noura, we sent in a copy of Majid's original divorce decree (in Arabic), along with a copy of a certified translation done in Morocco (by certified, I mean there was a statement at the bottom that said something to the effect of "I certify that I am competent to translate and that this is an accurate translation". We were never asked for originals. I don't even know what the DFA is!

If you need more specific information, let me know, I can look at the papers we have at home.

Hey Sharon, thanks for the info.... good to know abt original and translation! The DFA is Dept of Foreign Affairs. I didn't think we needed it, but he asked, so I thought I'd better check w/ those in the know! I think all we need is the translation copy, but I'll have him send a copy of the original too, just in case.
