It's a pumpkin.

I went to see the kitties yesterday and it was such a let down. It all started well, my friend and I took a 4 mile walk to get there and it was a nice day. The cat shelter is very nice, it's clean, spaceious and the cats look well looked after. They even have a mom and kitten house - oh the babies were so cute!! We entered the office, because I wanted to get information about what you need to do to adopt a cat.

Three eldery ladies (60+), volunteers, run this place. One of them looked like a vogon from hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. All three ladies gave me the creeps. At some point it was my turn to speak and I said that I am looking for an elderly cat, which is used to indoor life in an flat, to move in with me.

Then the bashing started.

They treated me like I am an animal torturer. Cats cannot, under no circumstances stay at home for 8 hours a day and need a companion, either a human or another cat. They said - "you young thing are out of the house partying all the time, you have no time for a cat, you are selfish and you don't want the best for your cat". So I tried to explain that I live a rather pathetic life and that I work for about 8 hrs a day and then go home (you all know it's true, I am always here lol) and that I am looking for an older, calmer cat (7-8 years+) and not for a baby ( I should have mentioned that I am almost 30, since I look like I am much younger, so "young thing" doesn't exactly apply). That follwed her saying that I was lazy to have two cats (I don't think my apartment is big enough for two cats to be honest plus it's a financial aspect as well).

The verdict was - either you take two babies or you can't have a cat. Then we left.

I do understand that they are very protective about their cats. But not every cat is a "group cat", some of them are old and want to be the only cat in the house. And that's what I am looking for and that's what I said, too. I don't want a baby that's at home alone for that many hours, but I think an older cat will be ok for 8 hours a day. Am I so terribly wrong about that? Geez, I felt like they were going to call PETA on me.

So I am not going to get a cat. And I am really upset about it. :(

I just find it strange because cats are basically loaners..

yes, they like attention but they are perfectly fine if they are left alone for a few hours...

dogs are different, they usually require more attention then cats...

Maybe I should get a dog...I seem to know a good source for puppies now! Congrats, Grandma Charity! I thought you had a little Daisy dog only.

####### retentive stupid German animal protection people. I checked all online animal ads and they are being super stict about cats being by themselves. *sigh* I answered an ad for a stripy 6 years old cat called "Berta" (she is currently in Barcelona and used to be a street cat). A German lady has a shelter down there and Berta has developed a cat phobia and freaks out when she sees other cats. I thought psycho cat and I sound like a good match. Let's see what the lady replies, I told her that I work and tha the cat would be by itself for about 8 hours a day. Maybe Berta enjoys a quiet household. If that lady treats me like an animal torturer as well, I will give up and hide.

I just made chicken. It was ok. I marinaded it with crema di balsamio and dijon mustard and chucked it into a grilling pan. And I had bell peppers sauteed with red onion and rosemary. Good meal. Going to dye my hair now. Fun. Shoot me.

u live alone and is out at work for too long everyday to get a puppy. someone has to ''potty train'' him. I used to be a dgo person, but that was the reason I adopted a cat instead, cuz I wouldnt have time for the dog and cats are self cleaning.

Luna is pretty much Javi's dog. Daisy was too "dainty and feminine" for him. So I got him a big, scary dog, a pitt bull. The thing is, she's a big baby and scared of her own shadow. I think she's going to be a good momma though. She won't leave the puppies alone long enough to go outside. She hasn't used the bathroom since they were born. I hope we can convince her to go out soon. I can't imagine it's good for her to be holding it in that long.

Just couldn't stay my @ss away!
