I am in same boat. My fiancee is 24. But law says age 24 UNDER need parental ADVISE...what the heck does that mean and in what form is parental advise? Should i have her father call her and advise her? What evidence satisfies "parental advise"?

ANYONE HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH THIS CFO SEMINAR?

It basically means that the parents have to write a letter stating they are aware of the marriage of their daugher/son. This is taken from the Phil gov website on marriages, but should apply as well.

Parents' Consent (for 18-21 years old) or Parent's Advice (for 21-25 years old): Under Philippine law, the legal age for marriage is 18. If the contracting parties are between the ages of 18 and 21, they must present written consent to the marriage from their father, mother or legal guardian. While any contracting party between the age of 22 and 25 must present written parental advice, i.e., a written indication that the parents are aware of the couple's intent to marry.

Hope this helps, unless the CFO has different rules from this...

Nope, that's for when she goes and takes the CFO.

No. It is provided to the PI NSO dept. much later.

This thread needs to be moved to the appropriate regional forum as it is PI specific.

This is really funny, but I understand why government required parental consent or advise. Thank God I am old I mean I'm out of age bracket when I get married so I don't need this. Anyway you guys already received good advice from here. Goodluck!!!

I am trying to find out under what age the Parental Consent letter is needed in the Philippines. I was reading on this forum that the CFO required the letter for anyone under 24.

Thanks,

Dan

My wife (fiance at the time) was 23 when she went to her CFO seminar. She went through significant trouble to get a letter from both of her parents and have it notarized. They were in two different provinces at the time but she was able to get it accomplished. When she went to the seminar in Cebu, the interviewer didn't even mention it. Of course, if she hadn't gone to all that trouble, I'm sure they would have. <_<
