I have survived! If anyone wants the hint to easier fasting, spend the first day of Ramadan marching around the streets in 90 degree weather for a few hours, then spend another hour dodging the rioters and riot cops, and then another 45 minutes hiking out of downtown because they've suspended bus service, and the nearest bus is 2 miles away.

Yeah, after all that, fasting any other day is easy.

It's kinda funny, my hands and my wrists are sunburned, but the rest of my arms are pale. The middle of my face is sunburned, but there's a distinct white outline around the edges where my scarf was. I haven't gotten sunburned in years.

07/21/11 filed AOS off tourist visa

07/28/11 USCIS cashed check

07/30/11 Recieved NOA1 and Biometrics letter

08/24/2011 Biometrics

08/25/2011 RFE sent to us for some info we've already sent in

08/30/2011 sent in the rest of info USCIS asked for

09/13/2011 went to congressman's office to sign papers for expedite of work permit, due to financial hardship

09/15/2011 Work permit expedite approved!! He can finally find a job!

09/24/2011 work permit arrives

09/26/2011 Apply for social security number!

09/30/2011 Letter is sent for interview

11/07/2011 INTERVIEW!!!

Its 2012 and still no approval! Still waiting

01/27/2012 Letter sent stating that file was sent on for more review :(

To be honest...I was still hoping to see Rahma in her lime green outfit...not kicking n screaming though. LOL :)

Thanks for sharing! I was reading the one sign that said "Insane in the McCain...etc." when I suddenly focused on the picture and George Bush made me jump... :lol::devil:

The other guy had been wearing a McCain mask, and they were rapping. It was hilarious. I think my friend may have taken some video. If she gets it up on youtube, i'll definately post on my blog inshaAllah.

What time is Maghrib for you Rahma? It seems like you are really early where you are at.

I'm here in the central time zone and I still have to wait about 40 more minutes before I can break my fast. I spent the first part of my day resting and the second half of my day cleaning my home. The cleaning helped me to keep my mind off things and this way I wasn't cheating by sleeping the day away, lol. Tommorow I have to go back to work so then the real fun will begin as I will be surrounded by non-muslims who already warned me they will purposely eat and drink in front of me just to annoy me, lol.

Same here for us. I got up really early though, at about 10.50am... then he slept until 4.30pm (it's not really cheating when you work nights IMO). So funny, I spent the whole freaking day fasting. I was on VJ, read Torah and Haftorah, watered the garden, cleaned, and jacked up my foot. All in a days work! :) But I am SO happy about my tomato cages. Now I just need to get more wire and make like 10 more :dance:

Sorry that I'm a little late to chime in, but the day got away from me.... (Not looking forward to work tomorrow :blink: )

I survived day one :blush::dance: just feeling tired and it was a long day.. Last year didn't seem this long... 5am to 8pm.... :unsure:

I am glad to see that Noura and everyone is doing okay, thank god!!! I hope that the first day of Ramadan was truly blessed for you all!

Maghrib here up nord is 7:50. Fajr is 5:10-ish. The husband was just dreaming about going to egypt when Ramadan is in July. I tell him to just buck up :whistle:
