Happy Labor Day, all, and Ramadan Kareem.

Olivia, my guess is you're really empathizing with Waleed going so long without a break, so maybe deep down you felt some guilt for doing something fun for yourself, and when you saw someone who looked like him, that guilt popped to the surface. Of course you didn't do anything wrong. You're both working hard, and when either of you has a chance to decompress, you need to take it.

Stay safe, Noura and all.

The worst part for me is the headaches and it gets hard for me to concentrate at work  It takes a couple of days for me to adjust.

I'm thinking of leaving work early today and taking a nap before starting in on homework and dinner

Just checking in before we lose power (for real - it's flashed out a couple of times, but thankfully has come back on). The weather is getting really harsh. The winds are whipping so hard, the rain is pouring in sheets and we have a lot of branches down in our back yard. The neighbor across the street just had a tree come down and block their driveway. As soon as I get them uploaded, I'll share a few pics. The worst of it is just starting here... Alhamdoulillah we still have power!

apparently it's not as bad as expected, some reports yesterday said they thought it would be a cat 4, but apparently came ashore as a cat 2. it's anticipated things won't be as bad as katrina.

stay safe.

Happy Monday! 1st of September! Today is Adams birthday! I had a huge surprise for him. I bought the write on paint to write words on our truck windows. I had my friend Nicky help me bcz she knows how to write Arabic, & I wrote the english/arabic. Adam was working over night so we did this after he went to work. On the driver side of the car I wrote on one window "Happy Birthday Adam!" 2nd window in english said I LOVE YOU, and 3rd window says "Dinner at 7pm!"

then Nicky wrote on the back of the car window and it says in arabic "Happy Birthday Adam"

Then on the passenger side window it says in arabic I LOVE YOU, then another window says in english arabic Enta Hiaty, Ana Bahabek ya Gozy Habebe!

So I went to work this morning at 530am and he got home at 7 so we didnt see each other. Nicky & Mina brought Adam to a restaurant for breakfast at 930am and I met them there. While we were inside I told Adam I had a surprise at the car for him and to close his eyes and hold my hand and I will lead him out the restaurant. So he did and when we got to the door I told him to open his eyes! His eyes were wide open and surprised!!! He said WOW! HOW did u do that !? He had the biggest smile on his face!!! I took several pictures of him in front of the car and he looks soooo cute! I told him to read it all ... he read the part that said Dinner at 7pm and got sooooooo excited! I told him we are going to a seafood restaurant tonight for his bday!

Now, Im home from work and hes sleeping for a couple more hours, but I sneaked in a strawberry chocolate cake, some candles, a card and balloons... cant wait til he wakes up !!! Then dinner!

then.....

WORK! bwahahahahaha

Hey All!!! Happy Ramadan! We got back safely about an hour ago and I'm working on the Florida Emergency Information Line - answering calls for the Hurricane. Fortunately, we didn't get any issues - Noura, I'm praying for you guys though. Hang Tough!

Happy Birthday to Adam - give my regards, Tamara...and save me a piece of cake - which I'm always down for.

I'm with the both of you. I am starting to feel the thirst and I keep getting the urge to walk in the kitchen and eat something, lol. The first few days are always tricky for me because I have to constantly remind myself not to do the things I normally would. Also, it is a lot harder to concentrate on Dhuhur and Asr prayers for me. My head hurts so bad right now that I had to start Dhuhur prayer all over again because I kept getting lost as to where I was in the prayer. I don't know if anyone else has attention problems when they are fasting, but it is a huge side effect for me. I admit it gets better after the first week of Ramadan, but for now I have to wait for my body to adjust.

We went to bed really late, around 3:30. I got up at 5:15 to drink a cup of coffee and a lot of water, trying to avoid a headache, couldn't wake hubby. I went back to bed and we slept late. We've been out of the house most of the day, ran some errands and went to the riverwalk for a really nice afternoon, actually got some decent exercise. He's going to head for the park shortly (can't imagine he'll play soccer though -- we're both shaky). I'll go to the supermarket for a couple of things and then start the harira. Hope everyone had a wonderful day. Still have power, Noura?
