Well, I thought it was clear from the beginning, since most Grad Schools sponsor your student visa once you get into the school

You don't need to change your visa status. My husband came to the US on a K1 visa in late September '07 and was accepted into university classes 3 months later (prior to receiving the Green Card or Employment Authorization). He just had to show his Visa and his NOA for AOS. Considering that you've already been accepted into your college program, you might not even have to show that much.

As you mentioned, however, you'd be jeopardizing your application for AOS if you entered on a non-immigrant student visa and then immediately got married to a US citizen. With the K1, you can marry, apply for permanent residency, and attend college with no problems. With a student visa, you can only attend college.

Considering that your intention is to get married, I'd recommend you stick with the K1, even if it might take a little longer ...
