Time has flown so swiftly. 3 months after receiving our visa my kids and I will finally be leaving our hometown, our birthplace, our family and friends. This will be my last post which will originate in Tagum City, Philippines... Congrats to all the approval, all the visa and all the happy reunions... Good success to all who are going for medical and interview soon.:thumbs::thumbs:

So far we have had 4 separate despidida (farewell party) already. One courtesy of our cell group in church (august 17), then one from the women's in our church (august 24), one from the kids teachers and classmates in school(august 29), and one held here in our house last night... now that I think about it, i am wondering if these people connived to make sure we do leave and not come back again that is why they planned so many different despidida :rofl: .

I have cried barrels of tears already and I don't wanna cry some more. so, last night, I tried cracking up jokes everytime someone would give their well wishes for us. For the most part, I was successful in turning a mushy speech to one tinged with laughter but some of the guest just started crying (the ones really really close to me) when they were about to leave... gosh, I hate it when somebody cries coz I can't help but cry myself... and jokes just can't stop the tears from flowing.

Tomorrow, me and the kids will be off to Manila so we could go to CFO on Sept 3.. then finally off to North Carolina on Sept 4.... but before leaving, I will still be meeting two of my closest friends who are based in manila. One is a cry baby so I am sure it will be another tear filled get together. As they both said, even if we don't see each other that much at least we are all in the Philippines, just an hour by plane away... yeah, they already made me cry from the first moment I told them we got our visa and we'd be leaving in a few months :(

My relationship with my fiance has survived, flourished and got stronger in the past 3 years inspite of the distance... I am sure, the mountains and the oceans will never truly separate me from my family and friends here... months and years of separation will never severe the family ties and the bond of friendship that I have forged with them for decades.

I hate goodbyes.... but I also welcome "WARM HELLOs"... and I know, though we are saying farewell to our friends and family here, we will also be saying Hello to our new family and new friends in N.C.

As one of my kid's friend said, it is not goodbye but "Au Revoir, till we see each other again.".. and kita-kits na lang sa friendster.

Have a safe trip!!

Your message brought tears to my eyes because I remember how it was when I left. I had to take a flight from Dipolog to Manila a day before my departure day and believe me I cried the whole 1 hour flight from Dipolog to Manila. I didn't cry in the airport though because I didn't want it to be a sad farewell.

Welcome to the USA

I can not imagine how hard it is to leave your home country, but reading what you wrote really gives me insight into understanding what my husband must have felt. It's really a great sacrifice to leave everything that you've known for the cause of love.

I am wishing you so many good things for your new life, a safe and comfortable flight for you and your children, and thank you for sharing that! (F)
