I heard that the new entrance to the embassy is located at Padre Faura St. already... and no longer at U.N. Avenue.... so basically, the SLMEC and US Embassy entrance is just 3 blocks away...

When I was in Manila last June I stayed at Bayview Park Hotel, just across the street from the American Embasssy. It's also very close to St. Lukes and a walking distance to Luneta. Its very affordable, $56 per night and that includes hot breakfast.

You paid way way too much

Many nice hotels with aircon and nice big clean American style rooms for around 1,600 peso per night
