USCIS Makes Preparations Ahead of Hurricane Gustav

WASHINGTONâ€â€U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is preparing to temporarily close offices, if necessary, along the Gulf of Mexico coastline in the projected path of Hurricane Gustav. If an office is closed, or our customers are evacuated from their homes, USCIS will automatically reschedule all appointments until a time when it is safe to resume operations.

However, if necessary, customers may make an INFOPASS appointment in another USCIS office.

The safety of our customers and employees is first and foremost. Customers are advised to take all necessary actions to protect themselves and their family.

Update: 2:00 PM Eastern Timeâ€â€The USCIS New Orleans, LA, Field Office is expected to be closed Tuesday September 2, 2008, due to the expected landfall of Tropical Storm or Hurricane Gustav.

Update: 4:00 PM Eastern Timeâ€â€Revised to reflect announcement that Tropical Storm Gustav is now Hurricane Gustav.
