Karri - Your tips and tricks will prove useful. Yes, you are right, your positive vibes helped me. Which consulate will Sam go to in India? Delhi,Bby?
Yes Delhi.

Here's the info on NVC they are open from 7:30 am EST to 12 Midnight EST, 603-334-0700 My friend told me to call them when they first open or close for less wait time, but guess what I just called them at 5:!3 pm and only had to wait for one min to speak to someone lol so go figure. They don't have my case yet btw, ugh. I would suggest you wait at least a week after your approval before you contact them. When you follow the prompts on the automated system you'll be connected with an operator. You have to give them the beneficiaries name, and date of birth and the petitioner's name and date of birth.

Questions to ask them:

1) Have you received my case yet? When?

2) If yes, what is the new case #? (this # will stay on the file all the way to the embassy and you need it for Packet 3)

3) Has it left the NVC yet? When?

If they give you a date when it left the NVC I have info on how to potentially track it on the DHL website. Also if you choose not to call them, you can email them instead and they will respond within 2-3 business days. NVCInquiry@state.gov

You will also receive a letter from them when they send it to the Consulate @ Delhi.

karri-what is this secret way of tracking via dhl that you speak of? please enlighten us!

Haha. Ok here's the info. I got this from the August thread ;)

Go here to track packages:

http://www.dhl.com/publish/g0/en/eshipping.../sref.high.html

Then in the reference number, you have to put EXP 2 JAN 2009A................then change the search dates beginning two days before...then leave the other date the current date. Everyday you can change the date and check after the pick-ups leave the building for the day.......sometimes things that are dated for the day before don't show up until the next day, so you have to play with the dates a bit. (Make sure to put spaces between everything as above and put that "A" after the year)

A list of packages will come up showing all the different countries they are going to.......just try putting in EXP 30 DEC 2008A....with dates between 29 DEC 2008 and 31 DEC 2008......you should see packages that were shipped to many places like Mexico, UK, Ukraine, Thailand, Manila, etc. Then if you scroll down it breaks them down individually and shows you where the package is currently located or if it has made it to the final destination.

The thing is....if you see one to your embassy, you can't be sure that it is yours....since many cases may be going there, but at least it gives you a reason to call and check......

The thing is you have to put in a dated based on when your package was sent, for some reason it's the day before your package is sent... so if they tell you your package was sent on DEC 23, you'd use EXP 22 DEC 2008A and look for your embassy to be listed in there. I don't know why it's so goofy but it is. Once you find the shipment to your embassy you can click it to see more detailed information (just where the shipment is at and where it's been, there is no information directly related to your petition).

Hi Guys, first off congrats on getting the approvals and to those who have not yet..it wont be far away, get excited!!

It does feel as though we are finally getting somewhere now. Though me and my better half are trying to arrange a wedding across skype ( for a date we arent even sure of, who can come or even where in San Diego we can get, as its crazy busy! and at the same time trying to get all the information I require for the embassy and the interview..so lots to keep me on my toes, a little stressful to say the least.

Unlike some of you guys I have only just started to try and prep for filling in the forms required by the US embassy in London. Some of the information isnt exactly easy to find..i am not sure i can remember all the places where i have lived for the past 10yrs..must be old age setting in at 31 :-) One question i am having a particular problem with, is that I am not sure what to put for the question where it asks if you have performed military service? or have had specialist training in firearms etc., I trained with the University Air Squadron learning to fly and joined the OTC ( officer training corps) whilst i was at university in which i did get to fire rifles, but I am not sure if this is categorised as performing military service, given than it was really just training( albeit : VR - Voluntary reserve) and was not part of the full time airforce or army.

Sorry its an odd question, hope it makes sense. but just a bit unsure..you guys have any ideas? do you think its worth emailing or trying to call the embassy to clarify it?

thanks in advance

Just an opinion, but I think if you were not enlisted in the military, it is just schooling so I would answer no. I believe if they checked it would be for military records, but I dont even know why this is an issue, but I guess it is a standard question for all countries, so some countries it may be more of a problem for.

I have been calling NVC all week, using their automated case update, and was told every time that they had no record of our case. So last night I called and spoke to a real person. She told me they received our case and forwarded on to the Embassy in Moscow two days ago. I checked the DHL website, as mentioned by Karri, to track the shipment and found that our case has already been received by the embassy. Wow! That was very fast! They received it 36 hours after it was sent.
