Hey Dogspot, Let me know about the Moscow Embassy as we are right behind you and can use all the help you can give...Thanks!!!!

dogspot, we need t know abut the interview, so please keep me posted, thank you and good luck!!!!!

Will do. Now we just need to wait on packet 3/4 to arrive from the embassy. I arranged a neatly organized file for Yulia to take to the interview, containing a copy of the original I-129 packet I submitted to USCIS, extensive proof of ongoing relationship, copies of both the NOA1 and NOA2, AOS (not notarized) with accompanying letter from employer, paystubs for 6 weeks, W-2s, and tax return for 2007. Also included are a couple hard copies of forms DS-156 and DS-230, which I also emailed to her to have her fill out before her packet arrives. She already has her police clearance, which we took care of together on my last visit. Now the only things she needs are the medical exam and prepaid DHL mailer along with the documents from packet 3/4 and we'll be set. Yulia is very confident about the interview. She is a lawyer, or soon-to-be-retired lawyer, so I am also confident in her.

I have found this thread on the Russia board to be quite useful:

I will definitely fill you in on details of the interview...unless your's is first ;) Good luck!

well i'm bummed...nvc told me my petition was sent out (or rather picked up by dhl on the 16th). i can't find any packages going to Kyiv. Maybe I just have to wait until next week? If so, that's unfortunate...

have you found yours yet karri? or any other Sept. filers?!?!?

Maybe yours was delivered on 1/14 and arrived on 1/16. Kiev received one package from NVC on 1/16. I would suggest calling the embassy in Kiev tomorrow, Monday. I don't believe it is a holiday tomorrow in Ukraine.

Call the NVC, I'm sure it has been through and out already by now. I heard they receive the files electronically now. Which explains why the lady said she received my case at the end of last week when my NOA2 was. Also, the NVC will send you a letter in the mail stating they have officially sent it to the embassy.

Karri, Let me understand what you are saying. You said the files are electronically sent to the NVC? So, the info. is sent to the US Embassy in Moscow right after it is approved by the US Immigration? Or is there a short delay before shipping to get the NVC approval? Thanks for your help....

I never heard or knew it was sent electronically - Really? Certainly the Embassy receives the originals that were sent in. I am sure of this, but either they dont really look closely or they are somehow missing some documents. I got a request for a translation that was sent in originally, but they said it wasnt. Additionally, they did say the received the original of a document that needed translated. Strange. I would think it cant go to NVC electronically, because everyone is checking the shipment from NVC to Embassy and they did receive originals.

I'm thinking that part of it is electronically submitted and part isn't. Dunno for sure but I can dream can't i? Anything to speed up the process is A ok with me!

GRRRRRRR... Got my RFE today ... they want something we already send them!!

They asked for a copy of my fiance's divorce papers, but we have already send them. We phoned the courts where it was issued and they told us the forms he send was the right ones. Now we are not sure what to do. 1: Assume they just missed the information in the package and send it again, or 2: pay to have new forms send from the court and then send that. Any ideas?

I think you dont need to send in the originals right? So for now, I would just re-fax the ones you previously sent. Was a translation done? Is it clear that this was the divorce certificate (if written in Korean, I would guess they cant judge). If translated, was it written on a copy of the original document or re-created to look similar with normal translation?

I dont know how long the document is, but another option is to resend it as you originally did, send in translations, and if translation was not done on a copy of the original document, scan in that document into a .tif or .bmp image. Then open it in "Paintbrush" (everyone who has windows has Paintbrush) or better software and add text boxes of the translation on that form - if there is room. If no room, add notes that reference the full translated copy.

If you are worried about the original for the interview, it depends on who's it is. If US citizen, I think it is not required. If Alien, the you probably have time to order another original if you can get them to accept what you sent. They should except it for the Alien because the USCIS check should be focused on the American Citizen and Embassy check (Dept of State) is more focused on Alien.

For all Sept filers who are now approved and putting together I-134 Affidavit of Support....

I'm interested in knowing what folks are doing for tax returns?

My intent had been to follow the VJ guide, which as far as I can tell says to include the most recent years' tax return. No problem, I have a photocopy of all pages of my 2007 return with 1040+all schedules.

However tonight I saw a discussion about people applying to the IRS to get transcripts of their tax returns. Is that necessary? Are people on this board going to those lengths?

Apparently IRS provides transcripts for free, but it takes them about 10 days. I suppose what I might do is send my own photocopy to my fiancee now, ask IRS for a transcript, and when it arrives mail that to her as well. It should come in plenty of time before her interview, which is still not even scheduled yet (I'm still waiting to hear that our file is at NVC, so no real hurry here).

i read something somewhere on the transcripts also, can you give me the link. I wasnt going to do this, but now I have 2 issues.

1) Tokyo Embassy says tax documents need to be notarized - which is stupid, there is no place to notorize, so only my I-134 is notarized.

2) I included tax documents for the last 3 years, check stubs for this year, letter from the employer, etc, but I remembered one of my tax documents didnt print well (out of ink), but I copied it anyway. So I looked again recently (after I sent it), and realized it was 2007. So, I dont really have a way to reprint it because the software was on a computer that my ex-wife has.

So easiest solution maybe tax tax transcript, which should satisfy Tokyo also.
