This song has such a nostaglic effect on me. I had Supertramp's Live in Paris album in cassette tape and use to listen to it on a small clock radio while I was in High School.

I decided just now to read up on the group from Wikipedia since I never saw them perform. Roger Hodgson is the genius behind such songs as the Illogical Song.

I found this live performance of Roger playing with Ringo Starr. It's a really good quality video and great sound.

Here's to remembering a time of my life that seems so long ago now...

I used to love that record (Breakfast in America ) so much, I wore it out. Here's another song of theirs I used to just love !

May 7,2007-USCIS received I-129f
July 24,2007-NOA1 was received
April 21,2008-K-1 visa denied.
June 3,2008-waiver filed at US Consalate in Panama
The interview went well, they told him it will take another 6 months for them to adjudicate the waiver
March 3,2009-US Consulate claims they have no record of our December visit, nor Manuel's interview
March 27,2009-Manuel returned to the consulate for another interrogation(because they forgot about December's interview),and they were really rude !
April 3,2009-US Counsalate asks for more court documents that no longer exist !
June 1,2009-Manuel and I go back to the US consalate AGAIN to give them a letter from the court in Colon along with documents I already gave them last year.I was surprised to see they had two thick files for his case !

June 15,2010-They called Manuel in to take his fingerprints again, still no decision on his case!
June 22,2010-WAIVER APPROVED at 5:00pm
July 19,2010-VISA IN MANUELITO'S HAND at 3:15pm!
July 25,2010-Manuelito arrives at 9:35pm at Logan Intn'l Airport,Boston,MA
August 5,2010-FINALLY MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!
August 23,2010-Filed for AOS at the International Institute of RI $1400!
December 23,2010-Work authorization received.

Oh, I saw a turntable at Target a couple of months ago. :)

Roger Hodgson seems to belong to a number of singers during that era who sang in a high pitched voice like Jon Anderson from Yes. It's kind of strange how the music industry seems to have trends on singing styles - I can't think of any modern groups where the lead singer sings in falsetto.

I read an article that vinyl records are making a comeback

That would be great! That's when album covers made a difference and from what audiophiles have told me, CD sampling isn't as rich sounding as a vinyl record. MP3's are even less than CD's. The sound of our music has actually degraded but nobody seems to mind it. There was suppose to be a newer CD format at a higher sampling rate, but I think the popularity of MP3's has literally put CD's on the backburner.

I've neve understood why people prefer CDs/MP3s other than for reasons of portability. For the "record", I never got rid of my turntable!

Yes, we are old....

Do you still use it? :) The turntable my parents had growing up was very 'low class.' I remember going over to my neighbor's house to hear an album on their stereo. This was back in the mid-70's and the sound was outstanding.

Are you kidding? I have loads of vinyl records! I don't think I got a cd player until the industry forced me some time in the mid-90s.

My parents also had a cheap stereo - my best friend growing up's stepfather had an awesome stereo, he's probably responsible for getting me into different kinds of music growing up

Very cool. I loved sitting on the floor with the album cover and looking over it while listening to the music. CD cases just don't do it for me. Unfortunately, the portability issue will probably keep vinyl from ever being as popular as it once was, and those albums do end up taking a lot of space. Hehehe...one of the best scenes I've seen in a movie was in Shawn of the Dead, when Shawn started going through his album collection and deciding which records he could waste on killing zombies with. It was brilliant.
