Hi all. I want to ask a question on behalf of someone else (who can't post here right now) who needs this info asap since they have an interview comming up next week. Her fiance was asked to come to the police station 4 years ago and had to answer a few questions regarding a complaint someone else filled against him. Now, he was not arrested and not convicted either since the case was dismissed due to lack of evidence almost a year later. However, they are still scared that this might cost him his visa and that they might have to file a waiver. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I already told them that I don't think there's anything for them to worry about since there was no arrest and no conviction, but I guess they like to hear from others as well that things will be fine for them. Any replies are welcome! (ps: sorry for posting this twice, wasn't quite sure on which forum this belonged)

The certificate is send directly to the consulate. I told them I don't think there's anything for them to worry about because I think only convictions will be mentioned on it, but then again, I'm not sure.....

I´m not sure, I think it shouldn´t be a problem, and he can explain that at the interview if it´s in his police certificate. Here in Brasil we take the certificates ourselves.

Ok I just searched for some more info myself.....it might be mentioned that he was questioned and seen as a suspect (?), but with him not being arrested or convicted and the case thrown out I doubt that should be a problem? Maybe he has some explaining to do, but I can't imagine they might deny a visa for this, the again, I guess you never know..... He has the interview next week so no more time to get himself a copy of the certificate.

A police check show convictions. It doesn't include times he was under suspicion or questioned. He's innocent until proven otherwise. At least that's my understanding. The only place his name might appear is in a closed case file. But that shouldn't affect anything. Since there's not enough time to get another certificate, just be prepared for the outside chance that he'll be asked. The answer is that there wasn't any evidence and the case was dropped.

 Ditto. The Police Clearance shows Convictions so if he wasn't arrested and charged his certificate should show no arrests or convictions. :)
