I have no dog in the race and I don't care if you believe me or not. The pic is funny, I laughed. I needed a laugh. Thanks.

I just didn't realize you were so jumpy. I'll try and remember that next time. :)

IK HOU VAN JOU, MARK

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

Interesting tidbit, 2 friends (in Ohio) told me today they are voting for McCain. Both voted for Obama in the primary.

They are fed up with the Obama-as-savior spiel & McCain is moderate enough that they are comfortable with him. I was a bit surprised but I do think McCain will win Ohio (& the general).

That's O.K. because me, my 2 Brothers, my Sister-in-law, my Dad and my Step-Mother are Ohio voters and we're all voting for Obama. It's not even going to be close in Ohio.

Ohioan voting for Obama. My father, who is a registered Republican is also voting for Obama. Ohio is a swing state - and it has tended to be true that whoever wins Ohio wins the general election. We shall see...

After watching Obama's speech last night and feeling like I was in church and seeing the hero worship from before like he's JC I'm a bit put off.

What is it specifically that gives you this impression? To me he just sounds like any other politician, really. And believe me, I'd be the first to be turned off by a politician making me feel like I was in church. I probably won't be voting for Obama, but for other reasons. I'm just curious about this comparison to JC that keeps getting made and wonder if it's not just something that is perceived because it keeps getting repeated by conservatives.

Oliva.. I am happy to have read what you wrote... I too felt as if i was being preached to..

Even tho he is a former member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago... he still talks like the preachers there... .. the techniques are quite similar..Imho..

Towards the end of Obamas speech I felt like he was going to put his hands in the air.. .. and .. say AMEN.. or some thing of the sort..

When I feel that bitter sour feeling.. I walk as well.. to me.. church and state.. should always be seperate... .. .

For myself his last statement.. Acceptance speech transcript

"At this moment, in this election, we must pledge once more to march into the future. Let us keep that promise, that American promise, and in the words of scripture hold firmly, without wavering, to the hope that we confess.

Thank you. God bless you. And God bless the United States of America."

He waivered. at the end.. at A... then he said. and God Bless........

the force/tone he used in his use of words.. made me extremely uneasy

Thx for following up with what I was feeling as well about being preached to. I've been busy with classes. Lots of attention from the media today on campus because of McCain's VP pick being alumni. I am feeling a bit on top of the world though because she was the same major and minor as me from the same university.

BTW I was voted co-chair for the Borah Foundation today! Big responsibility!

Ok so the general concensus from classes and discussions today is that one should not compare or confuse a VP slot with a Presidential slot. Brnidokiegrl ur off the mark with saying McCain picked a first coz this isn't the first time a woman has been nominated for VP slot. The democrats did it in the 80's.

What we're facing now is a person running for a presidential slot who is inexperienced and chose a vp with loads of experience but comes with nearly 50 years for baggage. In the 1960's Biden plagerised much of his speechs. Though I doubt he would do it today he does have loads of experience in the Senate.

And we have a seasoned leader running for the Presidential spot with an mildly inexperienced VP who happens to be a woman and a beauty queen.

The Dems have a weak foreign policy leader and someone as the VP who was Obama's biggest critic can do little about it. The Reps have a strong foreign policy leader with a strong domestic policy VP picked leader. She's been a long time member for the NRA, which is huge at home. She's a mother of five the youngest has downs., and she was an entrepenuer in Alaska. Plus she's a protestant, I think.

These are all reasons on my short list why the Republicans have a stronger match.

If the Dems want to attack the opposing campaign then don't focus on the 2nd admendment stance but rather the fact that both McCain and his VP are staunch supporters of pro-life. This may or may not put off the woman's vote.

Just like there is no 'black' vote, there is also no 'womens' vote. People make decisions based on many criteria, including apparantly, 'hotness'.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Notice your own personal bias here. Referring to Obama as "inexperienced" and Palin as "mildly inexperienced" and Biden as having "loads of experience" but "50 years of baggage" and McCain as "a seasoned leader." Putting the positive spin on the adjectives used for the republican candidates and the opposite for the democratic candidates, but pointing out the same attributes in both. Just an observation.

Also, while your reasons for putting the Republican duo as top pick for your vote are good for you, they aren't universally applicable.
