My most recent tax for 07 made only 14,000. I have savings of $113,000 (offical letters from bank with bank manager sig) and verizon stocks (copy of stock certs) worth $63,000 which was just notarized today. Should i be worried about the affidavit of support? O and btw i am not currently working due to my father being ill so i took last year off work to help him.. Please any advice would help, i cant sleep at night grrr!!!!! O btw this is for a k1 petition. I have already recieved a letter from the nvc saying they have sent my case to the manila embassy and my fiancee will be geting a packet soon......ray and grace

Get some sleep. You more than exceed the minimum poverty guidelines. Think about it. Most Americans don't have any substantial savings. A lot of petitioners aren't exactly rich and have somebody co-sponsor for them.

"These poverty guidelines remain in effect for use with the Form I-864 Affidavit of Support from April 1, 2007, until new poverty guidelines go into effect in the Spring of 2008.

If you cannot meet the minimum income requirements using your earned income, you have various options:

You may add the cash value of your assets such as money in savings accounts, stocks, bonds, and property. To determine the amount of assets required to qualify, subtract your household income from the minimum income requirement (125 percent of the poverty level for your family size). You must prove the cash value of your assets is worth five times this difference (the amount left over).

Example for a household size of 4:

125 percent of 2007 poverty guideline

$25,812

sponsor's income

$19,500

Difference

$6,312

Multiply by 5

x 5

Minimum Required Cash Value of Assets"

$31,560

Go to bed and sleep well tonight. They will divide your verified assets by 5. Unless your fiancee has about 15 children, you are fine.
