I guess I got a little rusty in the two years since we had to deal with all the immigration stuff...

We are getting ready to file to remove conditions- Matt was given conditional residency Nov. 13, 2006. I was looking for info on the filing fee, and I saw it is "$465 (plus $80 biometric service fee)."

So I really need to make a check for $545??

I am a bit confused, because I'm thinking biometrics was something we had to do when Matt first came, and obviously his fingerprints haven't changed in the last two years...is he really going to have biometrics done again? The check really is for $545? That really hurts the checkbook.... :(

They seem to be raising the price on many of the services. They thought it would bring the demand down and lower the number of petitions, but there has been an increase because people think the prices will continue to rise. Since prices on everything are rising due to oil, I can see it now on the USCIS website... " all K-1 and K-3 visa add another $400. due to high oil demand"

It's all about the Benjamin's or YENjamins if you're from Japan

"August 8 2008 received letter in mail from NVC...case was mailed to Tokyo..should arrive in a week"

" August 13 2008 Finace Received packet in mail from Tokyo"

'' medical finished $430.00''

Hi Nitedreamer,

Yes, it's one cheque/check for $545 (application+biometrics fees). Lol....fingerprints don't change, I agree. But the information linked to those fingerprints do change (at least that what they think, especially if there's been criminal activity). So yes, it's biometrics again....Don't worry, as you've had this done before, so it should be easy the next time around.

Yes, $545 does hurt the cheque/check book! I still can't get over the fact that I only have $0.20 left in the bank account after I sent the cheque/check in last week. Grrrrr.....Oh why does the immigration process have to be so expensive? Immigration should be a right for everyone and not just a privillage for the rich!

Good luck on the rest of your immigration journey...
