What i've heard about it is that multilink and starcomms are two companies in Nigeria that offer their customers a mobile landline, i'm not sure how it all works but i've heard it doesn't use any phone lines or internet connections but you can use it to make phone calls.

That's sounds pretty cool though. With the way wiring and telephone pole connections are in most African countries, that mobile land phone sounds like a good idea. I'll love to hear some feedback from people that have used it.

Hi Omoba... :)

My hubby had Starcomms in Naija, which I was told is similar to Multilinks and several other landline phone networks there. It is basically a wireless box, similar to our cable boxes...that is purchased from the network. You pay for the entire box and phone and with that comes the activation. (hubby says it uses a system much like cell towers) You can physically take the system anywhere, as it has a built in charger.(as long as you have power long enough to charge it...lol) You buy phone cards and load minutes just like a cell phone. The rates from the landline are much lower, and they are also lower to the landline, from the US. You can also connect to the internet for an additional monthly charge. (12-hour night service 9pm-9am, or 24hr service)

This is how we were able to stay sane our entire time apart. We were fortunate that he was able to have internet at home. At the time, it cost 5000 naira/month for the 12 hour service.

Hope this helped.

God Bless (L)

Hubby says that as far as he knows it is only in Naija...and it isnt even in all parts of the country. Unless they have expanded within the last 4 months since he left. He is unsure about what Sierra Leone might have in the way of the wireless system...sorry :star:
