Hi

I am an Iranian and my dad is going to have an imigrant visa interview in Abu dhabi. I was wondering if anybody could share your parents interview experience with me. How long did it take for the embassy to issue your parents a visa? Did they have to come back? Im really woriied. I know its difficult for my dad to fly to UAE twice.

Thanks

Most of the members here have been processing for spouse or fiance visas -- they may have some tips for you even though they weren't petitioning for parents.

But I remember at least one case that was a family-based petition, also through Abu Dhabi, for parents in Iran. It was VJ member sin_jaz -- the interview was 11/12/07, and the visa was issued after about 5 and a half months of administrative review (security checks, etc.) I'm not sure if that person still comes on VJ, but you could try a PM.

Wishing you all the best for a speedy and successful conclusion to your case -- I know the situation is so very difficult. God with you and your family.

My husband interviewed in Abu Dhabi.

He said it went fine. But be prepared not to have the visa issued right away. All approved visa applicants, after the interview, have their cases go into ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING. This can take a few months for sure.

So, your father will have to make a second trip to Abu Dhabi, to pick up the visa, after the "ap" is done.

Hi,

My fiance had her interview in Abu Dhabi on August 26. She told me that there were 40 people there that day for various immigration related petitions who got approved which is pretty good. The thing was though everybody except for one person were put on AP.

Some people were put on AP for 7-10 days, which included my fiance and a few other families, but the majority were put on AP for around 2 months. So expect your father to be put on AP. Also, note that these dates can take longer.

Wow, out of 40 people that day, only one was not put on AP? Is that a common ratio for embassies?

if only one person out of 40 was NOT placed on AP, isn't that like 0.025 percent? So the other 99.075 percent were placed on AP/AR? What kind of odds are those? That seems crazy to me!

one out of 40 would be 2.5% not .025 which is 1/4 of 1%

Thanks. Okay I forgot to multiply by 100. The odds are still not good - only 2.5% of people are approved for a visa without having to first go through AR/AP. I wonder what percentage of those that are placed on AR/AP were placed for legitimate reasons, and what the approximate wait was? The waiting is killing me. 4 hours to go now.
