Shon,

I still don't see how that would affect us? Our petition has a receipt date of December, so how/why would they return us? They did not tell me we were being returned to NVC, just more AP. Everyone keeps talking about this IMBRA stuff, but my understanding is we were not affected by it. I'm getting really confused as to what the heck is going on.

Carrie

Carrie,

Same thing is happening to us. I was told by DOS the last of April that the case was completed April 5th and the embassy in Cairo verified this and told us he would have his visa "soon." Two weeks later I emailed the embassy again and then they tell me the case was back in Washington for more AR/AP! It is total #######! In the past 2 months, I have 4 emails from the embassy saying his case in complete and 5 saying the case needs more checks. What a way to play on our emotions. Hang in there and hope you hear good news soon.

Carrie, so sorry about this. They did the same thing to my sis, one email would say one thing and DOS another. It took a month for it to get straightened out. The good news is once the Senator makes an "inquiry" that seems to get them moving and shaking. Start your wedding plans tomorrow, may some appointments for June. There's still a chance they'll call him this week. If you need to vent, talk, cry please don't hesistate to gimme a ring. We're all here for you. Lots of hugs.

prena

At least some of you can get replies. All Casa does is delete my emails without even reading them. I'm so depressed and I hate this. I hate Casa! Edited by carshel

I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through right now. I can only hope it's some sort of misunderstanding and miscommunication between offices and that they'll get it straightened out soon. The good news is that Simo passed the interview and they feel like your relationship is genuine. This sounds just like red tape that can hopefully be cut through soon.

Good luck, and keep your head up!

Carrie,

I went through a similar experience through Montreal. We were on AR and was told all complete, then to return to the consul to add additional documents and submit the passport, only to be told on our 2nd interview that AR not yet complete. we were outraged.

i can only suggest it was really really BAD communication on the part of Casa. Do not lose hope. (F)

I want to thank you all for your kind words of support. I'm trying really hard not to let this get the best of us. I'm sure we will be ok. We are just extremely disappointed at the moment. Poor Simo was running around like mad trying to be ready to leave for when they called just to find out it was all wrong. Now he is depressed on top of being exhausted. They got all our hopes up that we started making plans and now it all has come to a screeching halt, just to do it all over again later. Which is fine, but we just wish we knew when. I think that is the hardest part...not knowing when.

Yes, you are right Carrie, it is for petitions filed AFTER March 06.>>>>>

The International Marriage Broker Regulation

(IMBRA) was signed by the President January 5th of this

year. A 60-day deadline, March 5, 2006, was established

for DHS to begin asking K-1 fiancé(e) petitioners for

their criminal background information.

There has to be some screw up with Casa, I can't imagine DOS telling them the AP was done when in fact it was not done. This is my hunch, not that it will help you Carrie.

I know that so much of what Casa does is wrong, I still beleive they are playing games with us so we will complain to our representatives. Casa complains they need more help. What better way than to use us as their pawns to get it??

Since we were denied a visa and our case returned to CIS, I have learned so much. One member even discovered a meeting McKeever had saying that the posts needed more help. Then there are those who McKeever told "tell your congressmen we need help". I was told this very same thing last year.

I am sure all of this will be cleared up soon. I know (believe me I know) it doesn't help to hear this.

Carrie,

I have been trying so hard to find words to put here to you. All I can really offer, although its probably not much comfort, is that this is still only a matter of WHEN. I should not say "only". I know your frustrations. Mine may be a bit different, but I'm sure it tastes the same. I wish someone in government had enough empathy to understand this visa thing is not like licensing a CAR. It is about love, hope, future, family and this "not knowing a damn thing" game is beyond brutal. I won't lie. This is the reason I lost my job. Yesterday was the 1 year anniversary of the day I had to leave Egypt and Mohammed behind to rebuild my life here and get him here. It's eating me up. The bureaucrats can't understand the pain and frustration. The consulates are understaffed and overworked. And as usual its the citizenry that pays very dearly. They still get their #$(&ing paychecks in the end. We just wrack up travel bills, health problems, loss of family and friends, and loss of faith in our own system.

I'm praying for you both that this is just a hiccup in the process. I agree with the rest that this was most likely a minor screw up. Not minor to you, but in the long run will most likely not cost you much more time. Hang in there as best you can. You are supported here.

Our NOA1 is December 28, 2005. Even DOS said that IMBRA would not have affected us. So that cannot be what is going on.
