There are no genuine pay as you go cellphones in the states?

i use tracfone it is pay as you go. you get robbed for incoming calls texting and out going calls

you can buy a year card and you dont have to reload for 1 year or they have a double min. card so every amout of time you put on after that is double. so if you buy 200 min you get 400 also.

what i did is bought a year card and around 9 month or when your min run out buy another year card and then you never have to worry again because when you buy another card it automatic adds another 90 days onto the length of time hell i am good till 6/15/2010 and i just pay as i go.

i dont give out the number to alot of people so keeps the cost down

We have a boostmobile phone........boostmobile.com . We just started using it so maybe this might be wrong. Was told that we can add minutes by credit card. $5.00 for 3 months is the smallest amount I can buy. We bought the better phone for around 65 dollars but they do have a cheaper made one for less money. Maybe wallmart has phone cards for boost mobile but it is like $15-20 for 3 months. Credit card is the best way to go to add the smallest amount. After 3 months your unused minutes are lost that you did buy. Wife is chinese so we are thrifty.....

Virgin also let you top up via credit card minimum is $10 good for 3 months. If you top up again during that 3 months then that extends your minutes by another 3 months. I've heard AT&T are very good also but never used em!

I suppose when I read my post again I'm very annoyed that the US mobile operators are basically free to do as they please. Who regulates them and what are their regulations? How can they get away with charging for incoming calls and texts? Makes you think why all their "family" plans are more or less the same. They've the market cornered basically and are milking the cow for all she's worth!

It'd be nice if the government over here would actually do some governing and maybe do something for the people?

oh you are right about milking the cow and the goat and all the sheep and the neighbors dog. well who regulates them. ah let me see couldnt be the goverment that sets the regulations they wouldnt screw there people like that. maybe they regulate them selfs and just give the people the best deals that we the people allow them to give use

but prepay phones arew better then monthly contracts were you lose all your min. at the end of every month. except at&t but then again the price for every month.

Yes...get an AT&T "Go Phone" SIM card. You can currently get the card and a phone to go with it for $10 at Walmart. Take the SIM out and put it in whatever phone you want, then put some time on it.

I think there also milking the cat as well.. I've no doubt the "government" has something set up but don't get off their arses to do anything or they've setup a toothless tiger to do the "regulating" Sometimes I don't know whats worse the government that's too big, bloated, overly micromanaged and at times lazy to do anything or the big fat greedy companies that just keep eating up all our cash.

Some independent regulation would be nice, open up the market a bit more? Maybe force these stupid companies to actually compete with each other? It's almost as bad as the insurance companies.. everything from health to "property" to auto.. etc. They are robbin us blind, it's sad when a lot of people here in Florida are so scared of being dropped they don't want to upset their insurance company.

I could go on, I'm sure other's could.. it just feels like we the average person.. the consumer are getting a raw deal most of the time and I don't like it.
