Weetabix, How I Miss Thee...

Living in the ####### end of Indiana for two years, I thought I'd become accustomed to living without english delicacies (pork pies...prawn cocktail flavour crisps...ahhhh) but this week I have had a sudden and inescapable hankering for some Weetabix.

Can anyone recommend a stateside supplier of english goodies that does not cost an arm and a leg? There are no shops locally so it would have to be mail order.

Do you have a Trader Joe's nearby? They sell Weetabix for sure. I think World Market does as well. Failing that do a search online, I am sure you will find something there.

Nope, we have none of those stores. I can guarantee there isn't a bricks and mortor store stocking them within 100 miles of me. It has to be somewhere online.

Well heck if I can get them here in the middle of nowhere North Carolina you should be able to find them somewhere in Indiana. I get them at just regular grocery stores, in the Organic cereal section.

Try Made in Britain. They don't have it in stock at the moment, but they do carry it.

I saw some at our Kroger here. It was in the regular cereal isle along with some other organic cereals. I live in a small town, so I was shocked. I was having to drive 1 hour to the nearest Meijer and stock up.

Excellent advice, that's actually where we found Weetabix by mistake less than a year after I got here.. We found it at a local Publix store in the organic section of all places!

You might also want to try this place online. I mean you're going to pay for it but when you need your fix of real food you'll pay give your arm or leg If I was you I'd make it a mini event, get a few items at the same time from an online store and make the most of the shipping!

It took me (a mere Colonist) till the #7 post to fathom what exactly "Weetabix" is. I presume that it's a substance upon which one could pour, uh, "treacle"?

its a breakfast cereal. If you usually put molasses on your breakfast cereal, yeah, go ahead I think I'll stick with milk.

I live in central IN and they have Weetabix at our local Meijer in the 'World Foods' aisle (also where I found my marmite, mmmmm).

I'm loving the Made in Britain site.

Yep, they have 'em here, too, at our local Giant Food store (somehow also related to Stop & Shop of more northern climes) in the natural foods aisle. I've tried them once or twice with regular cow's milk. Not bad.

treacle = molasses ????? I never knew that! Learn something new everyday here!

nope, I don't think there is anything similar in US stores. But you can get it at World Market if there's one near you, as well as most on-line Brit shops.
