Priority Date on I-130 case has any effects on after approval and to NVC process?

I called NVC and the operator said some wierd stuff that your priority won't change and all that. I have no idea what he was talking about but thought I should ask here.

I was under the impression that priority date only had to do with visas that are restricted by quotas. (LPRs and non-child/non-spouse visas for family of citizens) So I don't see what the priority date has to do with anything. Heck, my I-130 didn't even have a priority date on it. I thougth that was assigned at the NVC stage and again, only for quota-restricted visas.

Sent I-130 to VT 25-Oct-2007

I-130 Moved to California 6-August-2008

My petition has been in 3 states (1, twice) in 9 months!

Rec'd by CSC 8/9, touched 8/11, 8/12, 8/15, 8/20, 8/25

Approved Tuesday, 25-August-2008

10 months since we mailed the petition

Don't worry about priority date. You will be approved in no time. Just watch for a week or so.

Good luck...your approval is just at the door steps.
