wow, my fiancee has been with me in the USA now for over a month and a half on her 3 month K1 visa. We are getting married in less than two weeks so we are still within the 3 months. Since she got here we have just been enjoying our time together. Is there any paperwork, or documents we need to be collecting for our upcoming AOS?? Does it take long to gather the required paper work??

Thanks for any advice!

Hmm I think that will depend on how much time and how dedicated you are in gathering the documents needed and filling it out correctly. THere's lots of guides in here in this forum and USCIS site with regards to the forms you will need and requirements for each form. Here is the link below for USCIS site just scroll down and look for forms I-485 for AOS, I-765 for EAD and I-131 AP if she will need to travel outside US while AOS is in process

Good luck and Congrats for your upcoming wedding

If I were filing AOS now, I would file all 3 of those papers cause they are all included in the fee now. And, you never know when you might need them all.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Hi and welcome to VJ.....

I think it would be wise to collect all papers you can now either by downloading them or going to immigrations even if you still havent gotten married yet... time flies fast when you want it slow.

Try and get the AOS/EAD/AP/G-325A, copies if her I-94, vaccination records, birth certificates etc, just filed mine, fill them and keep them in a folder, cos the real delay comes from getting the certified marriage certificate because you have to order them and sometimes there are delays....

Plus your affidavit of support and tax returns.

It ll be safer if you already have the documents ready so that as soon as the wedding is done you fill and return the forms... its better to file earlier, you might get it earlier too, i had to wait for my marriage certificate a while even when we paid for priority mail.

Enjoy your wedding guys!

I did too... still living it... (L)
