I'd like to back it up to the OP & ask what Steven thinks of Biden crying, in light of what he said about Hills crying?

What does Biden crying have anything to do with Hillary's? Also, what did I say about Hillary that troubles you?

I agree with Alex. I just saw the clip. I don't think Hillary was being weak, but I'm not sure it was a good thing for her to open up like that emotionally...at least not while holding a mic.

Selective quoting Steven? You missed a few.

I agree with the idea that in a moment of crisis would not be the time to become overwhelmed with emotions. However, IMO, there's a big difference between emotional detachment and suppressing emotions.

Do you find it an inappropriate time to be 'overwhelmed with emotions'? Was it a good thing for him to 'open up like that emotionally with a mic in his hand'? I never saw Gore cry. Or Cheney. Or Edwards in 2004. This is YOUR VP candidate - a grown man who should show some reserve - if he's like this over his fans' praise, what will he do in times of crisis? Then again, he's not known for his reserve, is he?

I've seen Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan and GW Bush all get choked up. What crisis is Biden facing right now? You're trying to connect dots that don't exist.

I'm guessing she just has a really good memory and knows how to use the search engine.

Maybe... But when you change your name, the User ID tag in the database automatically updates any posts made by you.

That's why when you click on the link it says Jabberwocky and not Mister Fancypants as quoted above. You'd have to have saved the post/s offline to see that...

True. Hmmm.

You don't need to have ESP. What you should try to get is away from the whole Messianic diatribe some people seem to want to label out of spite.

Should I try and do that? Because I don't. But the general resistance to criticism is kind of worrying, IMO.

Sorry Robin- I wasn't referring to you as being particularly amicable to that silliness as many others seem to play. Where I was going was in that it could be best noted that I have never posted in a way that would somehow justify the frivolous claims that some would lop Obama's popularity here and it would be best to steer clear of such illogical thinking.

I do agree though that people that have a hard time accepting constructive criticism do have issues- much in the same way that it is pretty lame to establish or imply hatred of one candidate that has a nearly identical political platform as the candidate that lost the nomination.

one of these days I'm going to get Steve, Troll, and Mavi to be critical of Obama.

I might get Troll to do it, not so sure about the others.

i'm not going to hold my breath for that to ever happen.

No, don't do that charles - you might pass out from oxygen deprivation. Think about the baby!

Like I said... give us issues to disagree with the candidate over. You could be in for a surprise, if you so choose to find out.

Yep. I have said positive things about all the candidates, including McCain, during the Primaries until now. For all the years I've followed politics and have been a registered voter (since 1984), Barack Obama stands out on top over (Dukakis, Bill Clinton, Gore, and Kerry) the previous Democratic nominees. Some people, for whatever reason, can't understand or realize that. He's the best candidate we've had since JFK. I suppose if it were JFK as the nominee right now, similar criticism would be thrown at him - messiah, savior, inexperienced...etc. It's just too bad that even some Democrats find it hard to accept that he's the best candidate we've had in a long time. For so long people went to vote, not so much because they really liked the candidate, but because that candidate was the least worst. This election, I don't see that...except for those who disagree with Obama's political ideology.

I realize there's a little cynicism disguised as pragmatism that gets expressed here, but for me, this truly is a remarkable time to see a candidate that has the potential to be one of our better Presidents.

But lets get into the game Steven. Is there anything about Obama's politics that you disagree with?

Funny you should ask. On where he stands on issues - I too don't agree with his health care proposal. ...and he wears too many earth tones. Needs to spice it up a little. Perhaps a hot pink tie?

yes the tie thing is a necessity. OMG! OMG!

Do you save these quotes offline or something - so you can pull them out when you want to make a dig against someone?

My thoughts exactly. Kind of funny if you ask me... since this is essentially a non-issue.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

I'm going out on a limb here and probably going to get shot at but

Biden is not such a bad guy... And I'm not just saying that because I'm a life time Delawarean....

An issue that hits home for all of us.. immigration.... Biden is the man that personally picked up the phone and called VSC for me when my I 130 petition sat there from July 27 to late September without even an NOA 1 - No receipt, nothing. I called all of my other congressmen as well as the other Delaware senator, Tom Carper and they could not even have their secretaries call me back. I had sent postal letters, emails, and phone calls regarding my personal problem, the problems of others (just like most on this board) and how it was unjust that the people who were doing things the legal way were suffering with incredibly long wait times.

At the time all of this was going on I was a registered Republican (I'm reformed now, don't worry :P ) and Biden personally called me back and spent quite a bit of time talking with me and later that day he picked up the phone and called VSC, three days later I had NOA 1 and just a short time later we had NOA 2, approval and moved to NVC. I do not honestly think it would have happened with out Joe Biden's help. We were caught up in the mess of the billion people who filed right before the fee increase and we may have sat there for months.. But Joe Biden took the time out of his day to personally call me back (not his secretary or another office cronie ) and promise me that he was going to be calling Vermont that afternoon to find out what was going on and express his displeasure at their inability to even receipt my case. He apologized for what I was going through and said he does think the wait times are far too long and that America has lost what we are really about.... our open doors and home for people who don't feel they have a home, etc.

Some might just say well you were registered Republican and he thought he may sway you over to the other side, his side, but seriously, one voter? And spending all that time on the phone with me? No other Delaware Senator or Congressman could have been bothered with my small problem and he took the time to help and truly do his job and for that my husband and I were so grateful.

He's a really personable guy - politics aside (which I know is the core of this thread) he never forgets a name or face and will always greet you by first name when he sees you. He's probably the best we have on foreign policy and I think he's a MAJOR asset to the Obama campaign.. But I'm just sad to see Delaware lose him... Now we are left with Carper who truly is a mindless do nothing.

(Runs away before the attacks start :P)

I didn't think Hillary's tears were weak. I thought they were fake, considering the context (opposition to her at that time - vying for the nomination - potrayed her as cold & unfeeling). It looked, and still does, like a political ploy. I don't consider crying as weak, anyway.

Biden's choking may also be fake, though it looked genuine enough, and I'm can't fathom why he would fake it in this context anyway - he has more to lose by being seen as 'weak', if you like.
