I think the word you used when Hillary did it was 'weak'?

Biden chokes up

Posted: 01:55 PM ET

From CNN Political Producer Alexander Marquardt

LITTLETON, Colorado (CNN) – An emotional Joe Biden addressed the convention’s small Delaware delegation at a breakfast at their hotel Tuesday morning, thanking them for their years of support in good times and bad, and joking that the only reason he accepted the nomination was so they could get a prime seating location in the convention hall.

The Delaware senator lavished praise on Barack and Michelle Obama, saying the Illinois senator has a perspective he has never seen in Washington before, and predicting Michelle Obama’s Monday night speech will be remembered as the most significant event at the convention.

“Not Barack Obama, not Joe Biden, not Ted Kennedy, but Michelle Obama's speech,” the newly-minted VP candidate said.

“This is a great honor being nominated vice president of the United States, and I am proud of it.” Biden also said as he choked up. “I don't mean in any way to diminish it. But it pales in comparison to the honor that I've had representing you.”

Biden remarked that he wished the breakfast was closed to the media because of what he called “corny sounding” comments.

If Michelle Obama gives the most significant speach of the convention, well, what can I say? It was a lot of drum rolling and 'I'm just the same as you, struggle struggle'. Who gives a flaming ####? What I want is that politicians that understand that they are being elected to do a job and that job is to make policy decisions that will effect the country. What I don't want to know is whether Michelle has better dress sense than the actual Dem reps or how much the kids love their parents. Flamin' Norah, the presidential election would be much better presented as a 'reality game show' than this political farce.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

In other words, you want the candidates to stick with the issues. Too bad that is not where most of the Republican campaigning as well as a part of the Democrat campaign is at.

Hopefully today's Hillary appearance will appease a more political aspect of the convention. Or at least allow some kind of 'Catharsis' to occur... and then when the actual candidate takes state tomorrow he'll talk about issues (as he's been focusing on while McCain attacks frivolous parts of the campaign process... quite ironically) instead of just accepting the nomination as usually is expected of a candidate that wins the nomination of the Party.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

She's gonna tear up in public at every minor setback?

This is Presidential?

I agree with the idea that in a moment of crisis would not be the time to become overwhelmed with emotions. However, IMO, there's a big difference between emotional detachment and suppressing emotions.

This isn't about men vs women or masculine vs feminine. It's about a Presidential candidate that can't even get through what she's going through now without breaking down (just a little, but enough). How in the world would she be able to handle being President? Talk about stress.

When over a dozen candidates are going through the same demanding routine and only one of them breaks into tear... that is a show of weakness. I'm sorry.

I don't think Hillary was being weak, but I'm not sure it was a good thing for her to open up like that emotionally...at least not while holding a mic.

Hillary...under estimated Obama.....now, she is in a politcal fight and handling the stress poorly...

I am sure she's been spoken well of many, many times. It's just odd that she always tears up right before elections.

She showed her womanly nature unlike Howard Dean's manly scream after 2004 Iowa caucus.

Really? It's pretty much understood that Hillary was crying for no one other than herself, given that it's "her turn" and Obama just doesn't understand that, sniffle, sniffle...... :crying::crying:

I'll not hold my breath but you never know. The sad thing is, I am interested in politics but this just seems frivolous and a waste of time. If I want to fawn over stars, I'll go to a ball game or pop concert. Politicians are meant to work and work darned hard not smile sweetly and deliver platitudes and still get resounding applause. Of course, I know that it's a convention and they are partly used to bolster the overall view we have of a political party. Still, the point I was making is, whatever Michelles speach was, it was not a heavy duty political speach. It was pretty and she executed it flawlessly and that's fine as far as it goes.
