Hey VJers,

In early april I sent PK3 back to London without the checklist (as I hadn't gotten all documents yet and didn't know whether to risk it or not)....anyway so on one of the forms of what I sent back there was a question.

Do you intend to work in the US? (can't remember exact form)...

I had put "unsure." I put this because I am unable to work here in the UK due to disability and no jobs here are available that can cope with my physical needs. I want to "try" at some point to look into transcription work in the US, as that would be something I'd be able to do (it's big in the US but not in the UK). But I am still unsure on my health whether to take the risk to find a job and then end up having to quit unable to cope with the workload. Looking back at my answer I have a feeling I will have to explain it but my question is, was this a sensible answer to put in your opinion? I have never worked due to disability, but I do internet DJing for an ammiture internet radio station for a few pounds every week but it isn't a real job. Other than that I have never been able to do any real job....but like I said America may have transcription work and hours I'd be able to cope with. I don't know yet as I'm not there and know that anyway when you arrive you cannot work for several months. I'm sorta worring now that they might see this as a negative...my answer. But I was being honest. I know the fact I'm unemployed will be a negative, but in your opinion has my honest answer may cause more confusion?

Andy thinks I'm overthinking. Which is probably true. This is the most important thing i've ever done and I don't want to screw it up even more than health etc thats beyond my control.

Also I wanted to ask....do you think it'll be possible for me to apply for permition to work just incase I find something that may be suitable for me?

Love hurts

When you live an ocean away

When you change your sleep schedule to catch a few more moments

When you really need to be held and you have to imagine whilst your partner describes it

When you constantly refresh the USCIS website to see if you're getting any closer

Love Loves

When it repays you with the love of your life

When God finally answered your biggest prayer

When you can live life again in the real world but still have that eternal connection

When you wake up for to the beginning of the rest of your life with the person you fought so hard for

When you love somebody that much

You'll do anything

Honestly, I don't think it's going to be a problem. On the same form I put "not yet known" which is kind of the same thing. I don't believe USCIS really cares as long as your sponsor can ensure you don't become a public charge.

You can apply for a work permit and try out different jobs and see how you cope - if none of them suit then it's not a problem. Having the work permit just allows you to work but it doesn't compel you to work.

I hope you find something you enjoy that you are able to do with your heath difficulties.

AFQuaid,

Andy is correct. This question is not significant for K-visa applicants.

If you can fog a mirror and write a check that won't bounce, you can apply for employment authorization. And hopefully you will be able to find suitable employment if you want to work.

Actually, that seems to be sufficient to get hired at a lot of places! Minus the check writing part. ;)

heh. I've hired the former myself, and I'm sure I've met up with the latter more than once (why does my recent trip to Fry's stick out in my mind.....)

Fiona, back to you... I think you will find a lot of different working opportunities in the US! You seem quite 'hireable' to me, fogging mirror comments aside. :D

You might want to just wait until you get your Green Card tho. I'm thinking that the move, getting settled and married and all that will occupy a lot of your time for the first 6-12 months. Why not just enjoy what you two have worked so hard to make happen? There's *always* time for work later (trust me, it's hard to avoid it & I try very hard at that). I believe that your District Office has a reasonable timeframe for I-485s, so you won't be waiting 3 years for a Green Card or anything... food for thought!
