Hard to see my husband in a "fish out of water" situation

Its not easy to say what his motivations are. I know my husband wants to start working soon after arrival because he hates for me to support him for long. His family doesn't require him to send money since they are doing okay for the moment (Thank God). They actually prefer he starts supporting me first before considering anything else.

It could be like others say too. Maybe this guy is getting pressure from his family to send money back home and he doesn't want to hurt his wife by telling her this. They always speak in arabic so she probably wouldn't know if it was mentioned and he didn't tell her.

Married: May 28th, 2007

Arrived in the US: December 10th, 2008

Hey I was born and educated here and on one has given me one of those jobs... Where can I get me one?:devil:

Nutty it amazes me how immigrates (even the educated ones) seem to think they will just stroll into the US ... go to some office and score the BIG TIME paying job! OMG I came to the US with degree (very good one in my home country) tried my best to "convert" it ... but ended up working in resturants while going to school for a whole new profession! So basically 2/3 of the time I lived in the US, I had "low paying" jobs ! And I found out real quick no one was going to give me those million bucks jobs LOL!

Henia, he needs to have a real job, not risk his status working black jobs and getting arrested. Sounds like someone back in morocco is pressuring for money and the SIL is tired of sending it and wants to put it on the new guy. Yuck

Hey K! You know, I didn't even think of it like that, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's part of the reason...insightful! Maybe not, but it doesn't seem too far off if this is the case.

What is a Black job???

in this case? by context it's a job that he is illegal to work, just like a black market is illegal for sale.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.
