hello

please can someone help me. i filed 1 130 for both my parents in june. i got a rfe today. on the application i was confuse about the question when they ask about date of marriage, because my parent had traditional marriage 33 y.o. and i believed there where no documation to prove that they where married. in march of this year my parent had a church marriage. i included the date of the church marriage as my parents marriage date. my rfe states that i need to sumit a marriage certificate for my parent and that they would have to be married before my 18 y.o. birthday for uscis purpose. if this did not happen than i need to show evidence that i have a relationships with my father such as money order, income tax, insurance, medical report, school record correspondence and affidavits. this is too much because i don't know how to gather all the information by the deadline and i don't know where to start. does anyone know if nigeria traditional marriage is recongnized by the uscis and how do one show that they had a traditional marriage 33 y.o? i plan on calling the rfe line tomorrow. it will not be easy for my to collect the relationship evidence at this point. i will appreciate any advise or any help at this point. my paper also states that blood test alone will not be enough on my father side. thanks for any advise.

DNA testing will do. You have to have it done by a lab that is on their approved list. Did they not say anything about that ?

Gathering the papers needed for proof is cheaper but takes more leg work and time.

Now about proving the traditional wedding, was it registered ? Were papers signed ? There is a registry for traditional weddings and you have to ask your parents if anything was signed, registered. If that paper can be produced from the registry they may take it.

Can you get an extension to return the RFE ?
