my wife has just got home form her interview at US Consulate General in Hochiminh City, Vietnam. She's called me here in the us to give me the good news. She's passed with the PINK! All turns out well for us after those long long 5 and a half years. I'm relieved now after all the stresses and strains this visa journey has put on my shoulders.

I'll report to you guys how the interview went.

She and our daughter arrived at the Consulate around 7:30 AM. There was a long line inside already. She got through the line, got security check, then she reached the receptionist who gave her the number B 309. The receptionist explained that the B is for people with accompanying family members, and the A is for people who go alone.

My wife and daughter sat at the bench waiting for their number to be called. They were called to desk #15 for pre-screening at 8: 30. A female local staff member collected my wife's and daughter's paperwork (ds 230, police cert, birth cert, marriage cert, photo, passport photo, I 864 for my wife with 2007, 06, 05 tax returns and w2s). She told my wife that our paperwork they received from NVC was so disorganized. She looked at our daughter and asked my wife "Is the child your husband's" (yes) and "When did your husband aquired US citizenship" (July 2007)

After the prescreening, my wife and daughter continued to wait for taking oath. The oath was administered at 9:00 AM. After the oath, a local staff showed applicants how and when to take fingerprints (before the interview)

9:05 AM, my wife was called to desk # 11. The Consular Officer there was a young handsome white American man. There was a translator, a nice young local girl.

CO: Is the girl your husband's?

My wife: Actually, she's ours

CO: Did your husband visit you when you gave birth?

My wife: No, he spent all his vacation time of 2003 on the wedding trip. He came back to visit the next year when our daughter was 1 year old.

CO: Did he came back attending the child's first birthday party?

My wife: No, he came back December, when the child was 13 month.

CO: Do you have with you some pictures from that trip

My wife: Yes, sir. (She handed the CO about 40 pictures which he looked at about 30 of them)

CO: Everything about your case looks good. Congrats! Thank you for your interest in immigrating to the US. Welcome to America. You can come back 4:00 PM Sep. 4 to pick up your visa.

Wife: Thank you, sir.

It's all over in 3 minutes. My wife got home at 9: 30 and called me immediately.

I'll arrange my trip back to Vietnam soon to pick up my wife and daughter, the love of my life.
