Aim I crazy or is Airfare skyrocketing?

a ship.. i guess i could have sailed to china ..rode a bus to kazakhstan and been away from home...for a couple of months,., hate to tell you ..flying is not sone new fangled idea for travel...

don't think a ship would be much good if you only had a week or two of vacation... oh and loads of other reasons I'm sure we could think of.. M.

I find fares rise from around April to September and again over the Holidays (december)

Cheaptickets.com got me a reasonable fare - other wise I used expedia - but when I emigrate Im going via the airline as the one way fare is actually cheaper thru THEM for that.

When I started flying to NC it was a LOT cheaper (around £200 or so return) for september flight - but now its usually at least £100 more for the same period.

Crazy.

Well, no sympathy from me. Flying is one of those things that we would be better off without in my mind :-)

Flying is fun... when you are at the controls Otherwise, it is just boring.

Sian will be coming to visit me from Gatwick in June/July.....Her flight to Cincinnati will cost her £440. That's the cheapest one available - direct non-stop flight on Delta.

You are right......last summer I took a trip to Istanbul, and this summer I am going back (to be with my wife again). The times I am leaving and the dates are pretty similar between this year and last , and it is roughly 400-600 dollars more than it was at this same time last year.

However, I have only really noticed the jump in prices when I am going THERE. The prices from istanbul to here are roughly the same as last year, just slightly more.

I guess they figure us Americans can afford it, so they are charging us more for going there (or anywhere else) , while at the same time, keeping the prices pretty much the same for those travelers coming HERE.

I'm checking fares for Feb 2007 and they have skyrocketed - like a 25% increase.

I wonder if the 'after Memorial Day thingy' will make a difference with that one?

Fares that far out, becca, could change at any time for any reason. Best time to buy would probably be after New Years. They're desperate for people to travel then (seeing as everyone is broke after the holidays). One of the best fares I ever priced to Heathrow was in Feb.
