I have been reviewing ticket prices for my next trip back to see the fiancee. Wow have prices been jumping. I paid just under 600 back in february, around 660 last month and now I can't find anything under 900. What the heck?

<and no, I can't spell on monday that is why the title says Aim not Am> :P

Airfares also vary seasonally based on demand. June through August is usually a very high demand time and the prices go way up.

You are correct. They are insanely high right now. I have been checking them off and on and in one week they almost doubled in price. It's ridiculous. I finally went ahead and bought them for fear of them going up even more. All I can say is Good Luck. I hope you find something decently priced.

i am getting to that point but I am in the middle of a job situation where I am soon to be moving from a contractor to a perm-employee. so with that in mind, it is difficult to schedule my time off (along with the half dozen implementation projects i am currently trying to manage) :)

makes purchasing the tickets even more of a bear. Glad the new job is paying more money.....

Its also getting closer to Memorial Day, which is traditionally when airfares go up. I normally don't fly from Memorial Day to Labor Day just to save my pennies, but this year I decided to buck my trend. Cost me a good bit of dosh, though!

Yup, we had a difficult time finding inexpensive tickets to the UK in August. We were seeing prices from $900-$1200...THAT'S INSANE!!!! But we DID find tickets to Ireland for about $750...(not bad and the cheapest we could find) and we've got really cheap Ryan Air tickets from Ireland to England. Try and be flexible in your flights if you can, you might get a better fare...but don't wait around to buy tickets...they just aren't going to get cheaper this year. After seeing prices of $1200 to England, paying $1200ish for our India airfare didn't seem so bad! hehehe. :D

even after labor day tickets are still way up there. right now i am seeing anything from 890 (multiple carrier crazy layovers) to 1650 through august. I found a couple around 820 after labor day. Either way that is crazy expensive. Oh well...... nothing i can really do about it.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

You'll notice that post Labor day tickets will likely start going down some as the summer wears on. Only reason I know this is cos I went to the UK last September and was checking prices all the time. :D They're essentially trying to stick it to anyone who books now, too (regardless of dates).

Also I think the gas prices aren't helping (as was previously mentioned)...!

We paid for one extra luggage each or something. It was pretty cheap. We aren't going to need much to travel because we'll be staying at his folk's house. He always travels light anyway and I'll just stick to the shoes on my feet :P Any souvenirs will be tiny (no Waterford from Dublin)...hehehe

you really have to shop around to every airline, and if you can be flexible by a day or two either way, this can sometimes help. Weekend airfares are always more than mid-week fares.

Our fares to Scotland together were just over $1500, but we flew a couple of weeks ago, and booked the tickets about 3 weeks before that. As we get closer to the summer vacation season, fares will keep going up.

That said, I just got airfare to go home for a visit for only $35. Gotta love Aeroplan  I have an Aeroplan Mastercard, and everything I buy recently goes on that. I had enough points to get me home for free :D

Two words: high season. But on top of that, strange things are happening to so-called "taxes and fees". I used to pay 80 euros (DUB-LHR-SFO) and now they want over 200 !

And just another idea: though Orbitz, Expedia, etc. can get you started and gives you a good ballpark where each airline is at price wise on your itinerary, I would always suggest checking the same flights directly with the airline (via their website). Without fail, I always find slightly better fares that way, esp. with American.
